Taylor and Anya are friends that live 63 miles apart. Sometimes on a Saturday they ride toward each other’s houses on their bikes and meet at the halfway point. One Saturday, they left their houses at 8am and met at 11am. Taylor rode at 12.5 miles per hour. How fast did Anya ride?
12.5 MpH BecausE TheY BotH HavE TO MeeT IN ThE MiddlE OnlY SO, TheY OnlY HavE TO RidE 31.5 MileS TO GeT TherE TO MeeT UP.
Thanks Kai! will they both ride the same speed????
First you have to divide the total amount of miles that the girls are apart which is 63 by 2 because theres 2 girls and that equals 31.5. Then you divide 31.5 by 3 because it took them from 8 am to 11am which is 3 hours to meet up. Lastly that equals 10.5. So anya rode10.5mph.
Anna rode at 15.75 miles per hour.
How did you find your solution Jimena?
the answer is 76.8 because i divided 693 and 12.5 by doing the heart and got the answer answer
Where does it say how fast Anya is riding?
The miles apart is 12.5 miles
How fast is Anya riding?
Anya would have to ride the exact same speed of 12.5 to meet at the half way point at the same time.
How did you find your solution Trey?
Anya rode 10.5 miles per hour. I divided 63 miles by 3 hours.
Thanks Ben but 63 divided by 3 does not equal 10.5.
For this blog i got the answer 47.5mph. I got this answer by subtracting 12.5 from 63.
Does it seem reasonable that Anya could ride 47.5 mph?????
Taylor rode at 12.5 mph times 3 hours to the halfway point = 37.5 miles. Subtract from the total miles – 63 – and get 25.5 miles that Anya rode. Divide that into 3 – the total time it took Anya to get to the midway point and Anya rode 8.5 mph.
Thanks Tristin! If the girls meet at the halfway point, does that change how fast Anya rides?
what i did was i took Taylors speed and multiplied it by the amount of hours which was 3 and i got 37.5 then i subtracted that from 63 and got 25.5 then i divided 25.5 by 3 and got 8.5mph so that was how fast Anya was riding.
Thanks Rachel! If the girls meet at the halfway point, does that change how fast Anya is riding?
12.5*3=37.5 63-37.5=25.5/3=8.5
Thanks Harrison! If the girls meet at the halfway point, does that change how fast Anya rides?
ok so the answer to the problem is Anya rode 7.875 miles per hour to meet Taylor at the halfway point they meet at.
How did you find your solution Emma?
Anya rode 21 miles per hour I know this because I did 63 miles divided by 3 hours and got 21.
Make sure you read all the details very carefully!
Anya rides 5.04 MPH, the way i got this answer is dividing 63 and 12.5, thus getting 5.04
the first thing I did was set up the problem and the used cross multiple and then divided the answer got to the miles per hour and got 3.66 miles per hour.
How did you set up the problem Jordyn?
i divided 63 by 12.5 and i goy 5.04 that was my answer
787.5 MPH
How did you find your solution Jason? Does it seem reasonable that Anya could ride 787.5 mph??????
78.5 MPH
fist I took the total distance they traveled and cut the distance in half. Than I dived it by 3 because they traveled for 3 hours. I got an improper fraction so I changed it to a mixed number
How fast did Anya ride Alex?
anya was going 10.5!! what i did was find out have of 63 and got 31.5 so then i divided 31.5 by 3 and got my answer of 10.5!!!!
ana rode 10.5 miles per hour
How did you find your solution Zac?
Anya rode 8.5 miles per hour I got this by doing 12.5 mph times 3 hours = 37.5 then 63-37.5 which means Anya went 25.5 miles. then divided by 3 hours you get 8.5 miles per hour.
Thanks Madison! If the girls are meeting at the halfway point, does that change how fast Anya is riding?
The answer that I got was 69,300.i got my answer by multiplying 63,8,11 and 12.5
Where does it say how fast Anya is riding?
37.5 I got that by multiplying 12.5 x 3. then I subtracted 37.5 from 63 and got 25.5 then i divided 25.5 by 3 which came out with 8.5.
Anya rode 8.5 mph 🙂
Thanks Anthony! If the girls are meeting at the halfway point, does that change how fast Anya is riding?
the awnser is 76.80 because you have to divid 693 and 12.5by doing cross multiplication
Where does it say how fast Anya is riding?
Anya rides 12.5 miles on Saturday so she can left her house at 8am as the same time as Taylor
Make sure you read the details of the problem very carefully Lisbeth!
im going to say that anys also rhode 12.5 miles because i did 63 devided by 3 hours and got 37.5 and got that answer
Make sure you read the details of the problem very carefully Turie!
12.5mph
How did you find your solution Jason?
she is rideing 12.5 miles per hour because they both left at 8AM and met at the same time at 11AM so that means they were both doing the same seed.
Make sure you read the details in the problem very carefully Eric!
she rode 12.5 per hour.
How did you find your solution Kevin?
if they live 63 miles apart and taylor rode 12.5 miles per hour and they met at a halfway point then ana rode at 15.75 miles per hour 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 😉
How did you find your solution Audra?
Anya rode 5.04 miles per hour.
How did you find your solution Shyann?
between 8am and 11am is 3 hours so I multiplied how many miles Taylor traveled per hour which was 12.5 by 3 and got the total amount of miles. Taylor traveled a total of 37.5 miles and I subtracted that from the total amount of miles between both of their houses which is 63 miles and got 25.5 miles. So Anya traveled 25.5 miles in all but to find how many miles she travels in a hour I divided 25.5 by 3 hours and got 8.5 miles . So Anya travels 8.5 miles per hour!
Thanks Jadyn! If the girls are meeting at the halfway point, does that change how fast Anya is riding?
fist you got to times 12.5*3=37.5 i toke the miles per hour time the number then you subtract 63 by 37.5 and get 25.5 that how fast
Anya rides.
Does it seem reasonable that Anya could ride 25.5 mph?
they meet each other at 31.5 miles and they also rode 37.5 miles and anya rode 31.2 and those are my answer
Where does it say how fast Anya is going?
When taylor rides a bike it takes her 12.5 miles per hour when she and anya rides at 2.88 miles per hour but they live 36 miles aparet so anya rides 2.88 per hour when she rides to taylors house on saturday
Make sure you get all the details correct in the problem!
Anya rode 10.5 miles per hour.
How did you find your solution Chase?
Ummmmm, ok.
63/2=31.5
8am to 11am is 3 hours
31.5/3=10.5
She rode 10.5 mph
Anya rode 10.5 miles an hour. First, I divided by 2 ( because that’s the number of people) by 63 (total miles) and got 31.5. So with 31.5 I divied by 3 because of the number of hours. That’s how I got my answer, 10.5 miles an hour.
Anya rode at 12.5 miles per hour just like Taylor. They left at the same time and arrived at the same time, meaning they rode at the same speed.
Make sure you read the details in the problem very carefully!
Anya rode 8.5 miles per hour.
I got my answer by first finding out how many hours it took them to get there by doing 11-8=3 because they started biking at 8 and got there at 11. I multiplied 12.5 by 3 because Taylor rode 12.5 miles per hour and it took them 3 hours. 12.5 times 3 is 37.5. Then, I subtracted 37.5 from 63 because their houses are 63 miles apart. 63-37.5 is 25.5. Anya traveled 25.5 miles in three hours, but how much did she travel in one hour? I divided 25.5 by 3 and my answer was 8.5 miles per hour.
Thanks Jianna! If the girls are meeting at the halfway point, does that change how fast Anya is riding?
Each person traveled 31.5 miles. So right know we know Taylor traveled 12.5 miles. Next we see how long it took each girls which it took three hours each girl. So from there we would do 3 {how many hours it took Anya} and divide it by 31.5 {the total amount of miles each girl took} and i got 10.5. So Anya traveled 10.5 miles per hour!
Anya had rode 8.5 miles per hour. I know this because you know that Taylor bikes 12.5 miles every one hour then you have to multiply 12.5 by 3 because it took three hours and you get 37.5 miles total then subtract that by 63 because that’s the total amount of miles separating there houses and you get 31.5 then you have to divid that by 3 for three hours and you get 8.5, so Anya rides 8.5 miles per hour
Thanks Allyson! If the girls meet at the halfway point, does it change how fast Anya is riding?
63 miles – 37.5 miles that Taylor rode leaves 25.5 miles for Anya to ride.
25.5 miles / 3 hours = 8.5 miles per hour
Thanks Jordan! If the girls meet halfway, does that change how fast Anya rides?
Anya rode at 19 mph. I know this because if you multiply 12.5 by 2 you get how fast taylor rode in 2 hours. then if you subtract 25 from 63 you get 38, then divide this by 2 and you get 19 mph.
Does it seem reasonable that Anya could ride 19 mph on a bike?
10.1mph skylarr2014
How did you find your solution Skylar?
63 miles – 37.5 miles that Taylor rode leaves 25.5 miles for Anya to ride.
25.5 miles / 3 hours = 8.5 miles per hour is the answer because 12.5 x 3 = 37.5 subtract that by 63 which is 25.5 and if they left at 8 and met at 11 its 3 hours so 25.5 divided by 3 = your answer which is 8.5
Thanks Esteban! If the girls meet at the halfway point, does that change how fast Anya is riding?
What you have to do : multiplie 12.5 mph by 3 hours and you get 37.5 miles, which is how many miles Taylor rode. Then you subtract 63 miles by 37.5 miles and get 25.50 miles. After all of that you divide 25.50 mph by 3 and you get 8.50 mph per hour . That’s how i got my answer 🙂 Anya rode 8.50 mph per hour
Thanks Daniel! If the girls meet at the halfway point, does that change how fast Anya is riding?
First, you divide 63 because they meet at the halfway point. Divide and get 31.5. We find out how long Taylor was going. Divide 31.5 and 12.5 and get 2.52. Divide 2.52 by 2 and get 1.26 Taylor rode for 1 hours and 26 minutes. Make the hours and minutes to minutes. Subtract 180 and 86 and get 94. Divide 94 by 63 and round to the nearest unit. Which is 19 miles per hour. So Anya rides19 mph.
Wow! That’s a lot of dividing Walter! Does it seem reasonable that Anya could ride 19 mph on a bike?
The first thing that I did was I saw the total miles are 63 miles and Taylor did 12.5 miles per hour for 3 hours that she rode a total of 37.5. Then I subtract 37.5 from 63 and I got 25.5 for Anya. The next thing that I did was that I divide 25.5 by 3 hours to find out how fast Anya rode and I got 8.5 miles per hour.
Thanks Kaeden! If the girls meet at the halfway point, does that change how fast Anya is going?
First you figure out the distance Taylor rode:
8am – 11am= 3 hours
12.5 * 3= 37.5
37.5 IS THE DISTANCE TAYLOR RODE!
Now we figure out Anya:
Find Distance: 63 – 37.5= 25.5
Now we Use D=r*t
25.5= r * 3
3/25.5=8.5
So Anya traveled at 8.5 mph.
Samantha B.
Thanks Sammie! If the girls meet at the halfway point, does that change how fast Anya is going?
Anya rode 10.5 miles pe hour, because when I divided 63 by 2, I got 31.5, then I divided that by 3 and I got 10.5, which is my answer.
my answer was 10.5 and i got it by i found alf of 63 and that was 31.5 and after that i divided 31.5 by 3 and got my answer of 10.5.
Anya must have rode 50.5 miles per hour. (THE HOW ) 12.5+50.5=
63. The beauty of inverse operation
# FAZBEAR FAN OUT !!!!!!!!!!!
Does that seem like a reasonable speed to ride on a bike?
10.5
How did you find your solution Brandon?
she rode 8.5 mph. first i did 12.5 by 3 and thats how far Taylor rode. then i subtracted 37.5 from 63 and i got 25.5. then i i divided 25.5 by 3 which equals 8.5
Thanks Dayne! If the girls meet at the halfway point, does that change how fast Anya is going?
10.5 miles per hour . ☺️
How did you find your solution?
Anya rode 12.5 miles per hour because if both of them wanted to mett in the middle, they would have to go the same speed as each other in order to meet in the middle.
Make sure you read the details in the problem very carefully!
Anya rode 10.5 miles per hour. You have to divide 63 by 2 and then you divide that answer(31.5) by the difference of 11 and 8 (3)
If Taylor rode 12.5 miles per hour and he ride for 3 hours i multiplied 12.5 x 3 = 37.5 miles. If theylive 63 miles apart then i would subtract to find out how many miles Anya rode. 63-37.5= 25.5 miles that Anya rode in 3hours. To find her miles per hour i divide 25.5/3=8.5 miles per hour that Anya rode
Thanks Katie! If the girls meet at the halfway point, does that change how fast Anya is going?
Anya rode 8.5 miles per hour. How I got my answer was first I multiplied 12.5 * 3 sense 8am through 11am is 3hrs and got 37.5. Then I subtracted 63-37.5 and got 25.5 to figure out the distance left over for Anya to go. Finally I divided 25.5/3 to see how long she went per hour and got my answer 8.5 miles per hr.
Thanks Gracie! If the girls meet at the halfway point does that change how fast Anya is going?
If they live 63 miles apart and they both left at 8 am and wanted to meet a 11am they would both have to go the same speed to get there at the same time. So Anya goes 12.5 mph.
Make sure you read the details in the problem very carefully!
First I checked how many miles Taylor rode in 3 hours by multiplying 12.5 miles times 3 hours and I got 37.5 miles, now that I know that he rode 37.5 miles in 3 hours I subtracted the 37.5 by the 63 and I got 25.5 miles left the Anya rode in the same amount of time. Then I divided that by 3 and I got 8.5, so Anya rode 8.5 miles per hour.
Thanks Kevin! If the girls meet at the halfway point, does that change Anya’s speed?
5.04 miles per hour
If Taylor and Anya’s house 63 miles apart and Taylor rides 12.5 mi per hr and want to know how fast Anya rode first you would want to multiply 12.5 by 3 since they rode for 3 hours you would get 37.5. Next you would want to subtract 63 by 37.5 to get the miles Anya rode. You multiply 25.5 by 3 to find out how fast Anya rode since it was 3 hours and you would get 8.5 miles per hour.
Answer: 8.5 miles per hour! ^.^
Thanks Makayla! The girls meet at the halfway point. Does that change how fast Anya is going?
Anya rode 8.5 mph. First I divided 63 by 3 since it took them 3 hours to meet. I got 21. In 1 hour they traveled 21 miles. Since Taylor rides 12.5 miles in 1 hour, I subtracted 12.5 from 21. I ensed up with 8.5. Anya rode at 8.5 mph. To check my answer I added 8.5 and 12.5. I got 21. I multiplied 21 by 3 because they rode for three hours. Then I got 63 miles.
Thanks Juliana! That was a very clever way to solve this problem! In the problem it says they meet at the halfway point. Does that change how fast Anya is going?
8.5mph was Anya’s speed. You multiply the amount of hours it took Taylor to meet Anya and how fast she was going which is 12.5mph. This was 37.5miles. Then you subtract 37.5 miles from 63 miles which was 25.5 miles. Next I divided 25.5 by 3. The answer was 8.5 mph.
Thanks Jaqueline! Remember that they meet at the halfway point. Does that change how fans Anya is riding?
I got 8.5 because I multiplied how fast anya went and the amount of hours it took Taylor to meet and it equaled 37.5 miles. Then I had to subtract 37.5 from 63 and got 25.5 miles. After that I had to divided 25.5 by 3 and got the answer of 8.5miles.
Thanks Rheon! If the girls are meeting at the halfway point, does that change how fast Anya is riding?
I multiplied Taylors speed by the amount of hours which (3) and i got 37.5. Then I subtracted that from 63 and got 25.5. I then divided 25.5 by 3 and got 8.5mph. And thats how fast anya was riding.
Anya rode 8.5 miles per hour. The way I got this answer was by doing 12.5 mph times 3 hours = 37.5 then 63-37.5 which would mean Anya went 25.5 miles. then I divided by 3 hours so you get 8.5 miles per hour.
Anya rode at 10.5 mph. divide 63 by 2 and you get that each person rode 31.5 miles. then you divide 31.5 miles by 3 hours and you get that Anya rode at 10.5 mph.
I divided 63 by 2 I got 12.5. So both girls rode 12.5 miles per hour.
15.75 miles per hours
I got 8.5 because I multiplied how fast anya went and the amout of hours it took Taylor to meet and it equaled 37.5 miles. Then i subtract 37.5 from 63 and got 25.5 that how i got my answer.
anya rides 5.04 MPH, the way i got the anwser is dividing 63 and 12.5, and i got 5.04
Taylor rode at 12.5 mph because it you multiply 12.5 by 3 hours to the halfway point you get 37.5 miles. Subtract from the total miles 63 – and get 25.5 miles that Anya rode. Divide that into 3 – the total time it took Anya to get to the midway point and Anya rode 8.5 mph.
Anya rode 10.5 mph. I got this by taking 63 and dividing it by 2 because there are 2 girls. Then I took my answer (31.5) and dividing that by 3 because she rode in 3 hours, and I got 10.5
15.75
If the girls meet at the halfway point, Anya would have to travel the same speed as Taylor, which is 12.5 mph. (Also, I like the GIF)
I got 15.12 miles per hour.
I got this by dividing 63 and 12.5. Then added 3 for how many hours it took them to meet.
i think its 745.5 miles because i mutiplied 12.5×63 and then i added 675+6780=745.5.
She will ride at a constant 8.5 mph
First i took taylors speed multiplied it by the amount of hours which was 3 theni got 37.5 then i subtracted that from 63 and got 25.5 then divided that by 3 and got 3.5 mph
Anya has to go 10.5 mph , The first thing I did was divide 63 by 2=31.5, then divided that by 3 which is 10.5mph (that Anya was going).
