It displays roughly 0.03% of the people buried at Arlington National Cemetery. Using what you can see in this picture, about how many people total are buried at this historic site? Be sure to explain how you found your answer.

there is about 110 tomb stones and that is only about %0.03 so then i did 0.03 in to 3 so the n110 turned in to 11,000 and so the 11,000 tomb stones are in 3% of the grave yard so then i did 11000 times 33 because 33 x 3= 99 so about 363,000 tomb stones are in the grave yard

ok so I counted the head stones and there are a little over 100 tombstones. if 100 tombstones is only 0.03% of the total people buried then you multiply them which is a little over 300,000 tombstones:)

  15. November 12th, 2013 at 8:20 pm      Reply gabriellej2013 Says:

33,000 people because if i am correct you multiply 0.03% times the number of tomb stones in each row which would round out to about 33,000 people

I think that there might be a total of 3.45 to about roughly 4.00. I multiplied my answer of the total grave markers in the picture to 0.03 and got 3.45.

about 300,000 people are buried in the Arlington National Cemetery

i know because there are about 90 graves in the image to find what 0.03% of 100 equals you make it 0.0003 and so i divided 90 by 0.0003 and got 300,000

  18. November 13th, 2013 at 2:04 pm      Reply mackenziehedstrom Says:

i think since thats only 0.03% of the land in arlington national cemetary and that inly a part of it then it must be tripple the size because its the third of the land.it looks at least thirty stone plaques are in a row so thirty times how ever many rows of burials are there must be a lot 🙂

So, first you divide 100 by 0.03, then multiply the answer (3,333) by 108 (my estimate of the number of graves in the picture) which equals 359,964. That’s a lot of graves!

  35. November 14th, 2013 at 4:17 pm      Reply joshuam2013 Says:

I got x=186667 because first I counted all the tombstones which was 59. Second I put 59 over x. then I put the percent of people that was buried there which was 0.03% over 100. Next I crossed multiplied and I got 5900=.03x. last I did 5900 divided by .03x which equaled 186666.6 repeated so I rounded up and that’s how I got x=186,666 tombstones.

  36. November 14th, 2013 at 4:43 pm      Reply lorene2013 Says:

So Mrs.Ellison, I counted 72 headstones in the picture. If that is roughly 0.03% of the graveyard, then I shall move the decimal of the (%) (0.03 to 3) then I will do the same to the number of headstones in the opposite direction (72 to 7,200). So that means 3% is 7,200, what if I was to find out what 100% is? I would get the answer! So first I would try to find what ten is. So I will try to add until I get to 10%. First, I add 7% to 3%, then I add 7200 to itself seven times, and I get 50,400. then I add 90%. I get 4,536,000 when I add 50,400 to itself 90 times. The answer is there are 4,536,000 dead veterans. God Rest Their Souls

    Sincerely

Hello Ms. Ellison, I counted 93 headstones, and put that over x (the total number of headstones) then put the percent of tombstones (.03% in the picture) over one hundred. After that I crossed-canceled with the ”hearts”, and that was 9,300=3x, so I had to figure out what x was, so I had to divide 9,300 by 3 and it equaled 3,100. There are 3,100 headstones at Arlington National Cemetery.

you would start with 93 is .03% of something in order to get your answer you would have dived them and you cant do that if 93 isn’t a decimal so you have to move that many spaces to the right so its 93.00 dived by .03 than when you do that its really .0003 dived 93.0000 and without the decimal it would be 3 divided by 930,000 is 310,000.
