Robots!
The students in Madddie’s class built some solar-powered robots which they raced in the cafeteria of the school.
After the race Maddie drew the graph shown below to represent the distance d, in meters, that each of the three robots A, B, and C traveled after t seconds.
A) Which of the following statements about robot B are true? (select all that apply)
∙ Robot B traveled in a different direction than the other two robots.
∙ Robot B traveled 5 meters in 7.5 seconds
∙ Robot B traveled 7.5 meters in 5 seconds
∙ Robot B traveled 2/5 meters per second
∙ Robot B traveled 3/2 meters per second
∙ None of these are true
B) How do the speeds of the robots compare? (Choose one)
∙ The Robots all traveled at the same speed, they just left at different times
∙ Robot (A/B/C) is the fastest and Robot (A/B/C) was the slowest
∙ There is not enough information given to compare how fast the robots traveled
Please remember that correct answers without explanations don’t receive full credit.
a)1,2,4
b)2
What do these answers mean?
A. Two of these are true because it traveled in the same direction as these other two, it does not travel 5 meters in 7.5 seconds because its
backwards, however it does travel 7.5 meters in 5 seconds and 3/2 meters per second.
B. Robot A is the fastest because the data shows that it went 5 meters in 1 second and Robot C because it went two meters in 5 seconds.
A) The first and third ones on the list are true. The robot traveled 5 meters in 7.5 seconds, It says in the graph. I divided the previous answer by 5 to get this answer.
B) Robot A is the fastest, and robot C is the slowest. Robot A has the steepest slope, and robot C has the flattest slope, so robot A is faster.
Make sure you look at the axis when you are analyzing points on a graph!
on robot B it is true that it is going in a different direction based on steepness, but they are all headed east it is also true that robot b traveled 7.5 meters in 5 seconds i know this because on the graph it shows the time and the distance in meters on the axies and it is also true that the robot traveled 3/2 meters per second i found this by dividing 7.5 by 5, giving me the right answer. next robot A was the fastest and robot c was the slowest.i found this by looking at the slopes of lines and seeing how fast each line traveled in one second
Can you tell which direction the robots are traveling in from this graph?
A)Robot B traveled 7.5 meters in 5 seconds and Robot B traveled 2/5 meters per second. B) Robot B is the fastest robot because it traveled 7.5 meters in 5 seconds and the slowest robot is Robot A because it traveled 5 meters in 1 second
How did you find this information?
∙ Robot B traveled 5 meters in 7.5 seconds
∙ Robot B traveled 3/2 meters per second
∙ Robot A is the fastest and Robot C was the slowest
Robot B traveled 5 meters in 7.5 seconds is going to be true.Robot B traveled 3/2 meters per second so that going to be ture.A was the fast because it going 1,5 that make it the fastest. The slowest is C because it going 5,2 so that make it the slowest.
Robot B traveled 7.5 meters in 5 seconds fastest
Robot B traveled 3/2 meters per second
Robot B traveled 5 meters in 7.5 seconds slowest
Robot B traveled 2/5 meters per second
i figured out what is going on they are flipped
What do you mean…they are flipped…???
robot b traveled in a different direction than the other two robots I know this because it because the direction I was going to was different. robot b traveled 7.5 meters in 5 seconds I know that because it is so on the graph. robot b traveled 3/2 meters per second I know this because it is 7.5 divided by 5 is 1.5 and that is 3/2 in a fraction. robot a is the fastest and robot c is the slowest I know this because robot A went 5 meters in 1 second. robot C is the slowest because it went 5 meters in 2 seconds.
Can you tell which direction the robots traveled in from this graph?
it is true that robot b goes 5 m. in 7.5 sec.
What about the other statements? Are any of them true?
that answer is 3 becasue they all went to different dirctions
How do you get an answer of 3???? Can you tell what directions the robots are traveling in from this graph?
a)
1)true
2)fase
3)true
4)false
5)true
6)false
b)
the robots comper because each friend made a robot no knowing what speed
robot b is the fastest and robot cit the slowest
How did you decide which answers were true or false?
12
What does this answer mean?
robot b traveled in a different direction than two other robots.
part b:
the robots all traveled at the same speed they just left at a different time. ;p
Can you tell what direction the robots traveled from this graph? Could you use unit rates to compare their speeds?
A) Robot B Traveld 5 Meters In 7.5
B)There is not enough info givin to compare how fast the robots traveled
Could you use unit rates to compare the speeds of the robots?
Robot B traveled 5 meters in 7.5 seconds because on any graph its x and then y, x is time and y is meters traveled.
What about the other statements? Are any of them true?
robot b travels 5 meters in 7.5 secondes i know because on the graph its says B and 5,7.5.and also th robots al traveled at the same speed they just left at diferent times .i know bcause they alla re going the same place and the same speed but some are just going faster and some are going slower.and the are all going the same distance.
Don’t all the robots leave at 0 seconds?
A) robot B travled 7.5 meters in 5 secconds
robot B travled 3/2 meters in 1 seccond
B) A is the fastest and c is the slowest
How do you know these statements are true?
∙ Robot B traveled 7.5 meters in 5 seconds Robot B traveled 3/2 meters per second
Robot A is the fastest Robot C was the slowest
How do you know these statements are true?
A) robot B traveled 7.5 meters in 5 seconds and traveled 3/2 meters per second.
B) robot A is the fastest and robot B is the slowest
How do you know these statements are true?
a,b,c is on the origan
I’m not understanding your answer Jada! I need more information and how you found that information!
1st) true
2nd) false
3rd) true
4th)true
5th) false
B) There is not enough information given to compare how fast the robots traveled
How do you know these statements are correct or incorrect?
Robot B traveled 7.5 meters in 5 seconds. In the graph, it says that d =distince covered and t=time. So the point of line b is at (5, 7.5) which shows the distance covered and the amount of time it took.
Robot A is the fastest because of the ratio of seconds to distance. The other robots has a slower ratio of seconds to distance , so Robot A is the fastest. The slowest robot is Robot C because of the amount of time it took to travel 2 meters, which was 5 seconds. But comparing the robots, C is the lowest line.
Can you tell how fast Robot B traveled per second?
A.
1. false
2. false
3. true
4. flase
5. true
6. false
B.robot A is the fastest and robot C is the slowest
How do you know these statements are true?
A. The statements that are true about Robot B are: Robot B ran 7.5 meters in 5 seconds because 5 is in the x axis which makes it the time and the 7.5 is in the y axis, which makes it the time. Also Robot b traveled 3/2 meters per second because that’s the ratio between 5 and 7.5
B. Robot (A/B/C) is the fastest and Robot (A/B/C) was the slowest, that’s all you can really compare, the fastest and slowest robots by their speed and distance.
So, which robot was fastest and which robot was slowest?
A. B because you go to the left first then you go up. So you go over 7 and 1/2 to the left and then you go up 5 .
B. They all have something do do with the number 5. Robot a went the fastest.
Could you use unit rates to compare speeds?
A)
•Robot B travels in a different direction then the others
•Robot B traveled in 5 meters in 7.5 second.
•Robot B traveled in 3/2 meters per second
B)
•The robots all traveled at the same speed just left at different times.
Can you tell which direction the robots travel in from this graph? Don’t all the robots leave at 0 seconds?
YOU WROTE MADDIE WITH THREE D’S WHAT ARE YOU DOING MRS ELLISON FOR SHAME FOR SHAME
A.) None of these are true.
B.) There is not enough information givem to compae how fast the robots traveled.
Oh my! Maybe Madddie’s parents are very unique and LOVE D’s so they put an extra one in her name! 🙂
Can you use the points given to tell how fast the robots travel and then convert them to unit rates to tell how fast they travel per second?
A. Robot B traveled 5 meters in 7.5 seconds is the true statement. I got this because on the graph (5, 7.5) means Robot B went 5 meters in 7.5 seconds. This equals to 2/3 meters per second which is not on the statements.
B. Robot C was the fastest and Robot A was the slowest. C was the fastest because 5 meters/2 seconds which equals 2.5 meters per second. Robot B’s time was 5 meters/7.5 seconds which equals 0.67 meters per second. Robot A’s time was 1 meter/5 seconds which equals 0.2 meters per second so he was the slowest.
Make sure you enter the data correctly when you are converting to unit rates!
Question A:
Answer:
∙ Robot B traveled in a different direction than the other two robots.
∙ Robot B traveled 7.5 meters in 5 second
The robots travled in different directions beacuse the origin is the place all three robots were placed Robot B looks like its goin staright up from the origin. Also Robot A looks like it’s going staright from the origin. And finally Robot C started from the origin then went too the right for me and the left for others. That’s Robot C s.
The fastest robot is Robot A because it went from one second to five meters.
The slowest robot was Robot C because it was 5 seconds in 2 meters
That’s SLOW!!!!!!!!!! 😉 To add on robot B went the farthest. :}
Question A:
Answer:
∙ Robot B traveled in a different direction than the other two robots.
∙ Robot B traveled 7.5 meters in 5 second
The robots traveled in different directions because the origin is the same where the three robots were placed. Robot B looks like its going staright up from the origin. Also Robot A looks like it’s going staright up to the left from the origin. And finally Robot C started from the origin then went to the right from the others.
Question B:
Answers:
Robot (A/B/C) is the fastest and Robot (A/B/C) is the slowest
The fastest robot is Robot A because it went from one second to five meters.The slowest robot was Robot C because it was 5 seconds in 2 meters ( based on the graph coordinates )That’s SLOW!!!!!!!!!! To add on Robot B went the farthest. :}
Can you tell which direction the robots traveled in from this graph?
A) Robot be traveled in a different direction because it is not close to A or C. Robot B traveled 7.5m in 5 sec is true because if you look on the y and x axis it is true.
B)There is not enough information to compare the robots speed because they did leave at the same time but they dont have anything in common. In terms of speed.
Can you tell which direction the robots traveled from this graph? Could you use unit rates to compare speeds?
statements 1 3 and 5 are true. robot b traveled in a different direction. robot b traveled 7.5 meters in 5 seconds. 7.5/5= 3/2. robot b traveled 3/2 meters per second. The meters per hour are robot A 5/1= 5. Robot B 7.5/5= 1.5. Robot C 2/5= 0.4.
Can you tell which direction the robots travel from this graph? Which robot is fastest and which is slowest based on your unit rates?
A.} -Robot B traveled in a diifrent direction than the other two robots.
This is true because robot B is going the direction {5,7.5} and the other two robots are going directions like {1,5} and {5,2}.
B.} -There is not enough information given to compare how fast the robots traveled. To be able to find out how fast the robots traveled you would have to have the graph labeled and you also need to know the time in seconds and distance meters…
Can you tell which direction the robots are traveling from this graph? Could you use unit rates to compare their speeds?
A) Robot B traveled 5 meters in 7.5 because it says on the graph.
B) Robot C is the fastest because I divided 5 by 2 and I got 2.5 and the slowest robot is robot A because I divide 5 by 1 and I got 0.2.
Are those the only true statements about the robot? Be very careful that you use the correct data when converting to unit rates!
A. -Robot B traveled 7.5 meters in 5 seconds
-Robot B traveled 2/5 meters per second
B. Robot B was the fastest and robot C was the slowest.
I got these by looking at the graph, and doing unit rates to see who was the faster and who was slower and unit rates helped me solve both answers.
Be very careful with the division when you are creating unit rates!
A) Robot B traveled 5 meters in 7.5 seconds
Robot B traveled 3/2 per second.
B) Robot B was the fastest and robot A was the slowest
for a i chose these because they are true?
for b i chose that because there is no evidence showing when they started.
Could you use unit rates to compare their speeds?
NONE of the statement about robot b are true because they don’t add up the the point graphed
Robot a was the fastest and robot c was the slowest
Can you use the point graphed to tell you how fast the robot is traveling? How do you know which robot was fastest and which robot was slowest?
A) the statements that are true arr 2 &5. 2 is true because on the graph it says 5 meters in 7.5 seconds. 5 is true because robot b traveled in 3/2 meters per seconds. You will know this is true because
1) i converted 3/2 knto a decimal by swi it into a whole fraction which equals 1 1/2.
2) 1 1/2 equals 1.5
3) multiply 1.5 with 5 seconds which means its true.
B) Robot A is fastest because it travels 5 meters per second Robot C isthe slowest because he travels 2 meters in 5 seconds
a) statements 1,2,3 are correct
b) they all travled at diffrent speeds and started at the same tine
How do you know these facts are true?
The answer for number three is robot” B travel 5 meter in 7.5 seconds”.robot” B was the faster and robot A was the slow one.”
Are there any other true statements? Could you use unit rates to compare their speeds?
A) Robot B traveled in a different direction than the other two robots because A is kind of going to the left, B is going straight and C is going to the right.
A) Robot B traveled 7.5 meters in 5 seconds because if you look closely at the graph its labeled as (5, 7.5) meaning the 5 is the seconds and the 7.5 is the meters.
B) There isn’t enough information given to compare how fast the robots traveled because personally I believe if they wanted to compare they would have used a bar graph to compare the speeds of each robot and there would be number or other things to represent each axis.
Can you tell which direction the robots traveled from this graph? Can you use unit rates to compare their speeds?
A) robot b traveled 7.5 meters in 5 seconds because the x is seconds (5) aND distance is y (7.5)
B) robot a is the fastest and robot c was the slowest because c goes 2 meters in 5 sec while a goes 25 I’m 5 seconds
Can you tell how fast each robot traveled per second?
(A) robot B traveled 7.5 meter in 5 seconds and when I divide 7.5 meters/5 seconds I got 1.5 meters/second which equals 3/2 meters per second.
The other statements are not true because they didnt specify the direction , the graph didnt read 5 meteres/ 7.5 seconds, and it didnt travel 2/5 (.4) meters per second.
(B) Robot A travelled 5 meters/1 second
Robot B traveled 7.5 meters/ 5 seconds = 1.5 meteres/second
Robot C traveled 2meters/5 seconds = .4 meters/ second
So Robot A was the fastest at 5 meteres/ second abd robot C was the slowest at .4 me tree rs / second.
The other two statements arent true because it didnt specify the times thr robots left (just hownfar thry went in how many seconds and there was enough data to compare them.
The statements that are true about Robot B, the first one is That Robot B traveled in a different direction than the other robots. The second statement that is true is that Robot B traveled 7.5 meters in 5 seconds this statement is true because each line is a meter on the y axis and each line is 1 second on the x axis. I used the same method to figure out that the statement Robot B traveled 3/2 meters per seconds except to make the fraction into a decimal I divided 2 and 2. In question B Robot A is the fastest because in the graph is says that he traveled 5 meters in 1 second and Robot B is the slowest because the graph says he traveled 7.5 meters in 5 seconds.
Can you tell which direction the robots traveled in from this graph?
A) Robot B traveled in a different direction than the other two robots bacause A is kind of going to the upper left and C is going to the right however, B is actually going straight.
A) Robot B also traveled 7.5 meters in 5 seconds i know this because when you look closer into the graph its labeled as (5, 7.5) which means that 5 is the seconds and 7.5 is the meters.
B)i think that there isnt enough information given to actually compare how fast the robots traveled. I belive that if the wanted to compare the distances between the robots they wouldve used a bar graph instead.
Can you tell which direction the robots traveled from this graph? Can you create unit rates for their speeds and compare them that way?
A) It is true that robot b traveled 7.5 meters in 5 seconds because the point is 7.5 units from line t and 5 units away from line d. It is also truw that robot b traveled 3/2 meters per second because if it traveled 7.5 meters in 5 seconds, you turn it into a rate, and divide the top and bottom by five then you gt 1.5 over 1. 1.5 is equal to 3/2.
B) Robot A is the fastest and Robot C is the slowest. Robot A goes higher faster on the graph and Robot C goes higher the slowest on the graph. Also because if you turn all of the coordinates into rates you can compare them. Just do 5 over 1 for Robot A and multiply the top and bottom by five. You get 25 over five. For Robot B you only get 7.5 over 5 and for Robot C you only get 2 over 5. In 5 seconds Robot A travels the fastest, so Robot A is the fastest and Robot C is the slowest.
A.
Robot B traveled 7.5 meters in 5 sec.
Robot B traveled 3/2 meters per second
B.
Robot A is the fastest
Robot C is the slowest
On part A, both answers 3 and 5 are correct. Number 3 is correct because the graph shows robot B traveled (5, 7.5); sense the first number represents the x axis and that’s time in seconds and the second number always represents the y axis which in this case is distance in meters. Number 5 is correct because if you divide 7.5/5 you get 1.5 and if you divide 3/2 you also get the answer 1.5.
On part B, number 2 is correct because robot A is the fastest because A’s line has the steepest slope, robot C was the slowest because it had the mildest slope.
The true statements about robot B are the first and third statement because robot B went to a different direction and every 5 seconds he traveled 7.5 because the time in seconds was on the x axis.
B: robot A was the fastest and robot C was the slowest because every 1second A travels 5mi and every 5 seconds C travels 2 mi. So robot A is faster.
How can you tell if the robot changes directions from this graph?
124 for a and 23 for b
the two phrases that are true are ”robot b traveled 7.5 meters in 5 seconds” and ”robot b traveled 3/2 meters per second. The fastest is B and the slowest is A.
For A.) the answers are the first one ,second, and the third
For B.) the answer is robot A is the fastest C was the slowest
The sentences that are true about robot b are the first one is That Robot b traveled in a different direction than the other robots. Then the second sentence says that Robot b traveled 7.5 meters in 5 seconds this statement is the true sentence because each of the lines on the graph was a meter long on the y axis and the x axis each line is 1 second on the x axis.so i new i had to use the same method to figure out that the statement Robot b traveled 3/2 meters per each second but i had to make the fraction into a decimal so i divided 2 and 2. In question b Robot a is the fastest because in the graph it says that it well i am going to name it billy traveled 5 meters in 1 second and Robot b is the slowest because the graph says billyBOB traveled 7.5 meters in 5 seconds.
the statements about robot b are the first and third statement , robot b went to a different direction and every 5 seconds he traveled 7.5 because the time in seconds was on the x axis.
B:robot A was the fastest and robot C was slowest , every one second A traveled 5 miles and every 5 seconds C traveled 2 so robot A is faster
A)1,2,4 B)2
A. Two of these are true because it traveled in the same direction as these other two, it does not travel 5 meters in 7.5 seconds because its
backwards, however it does travel 7.5 meters in 5 seconds and 3/2 meters per second.
B. Robot A is the fastest because the data shows that it went 5 meters in 1 second and Robot C because it went two meters in 5 seconds.
robot A was the fastest, robot c was the slowest b/c in 1 second A travels 5mi,in 5 seconds robot C travels 2 mi so robot a is the fastest
A.) Robot B traveled 5 meters in 7.5 seconds
B.) Robot (A/B/C) is the fastest and Robot (A/B/C) was the slowest
∙ There is not enough information given to compare how fast the robots traveled.
Oh also my reasoning for the first one is the other answers besides this one is all false..
The other one is there really isn’t enough info for answers to say either (A,B,C)
A.) Robot B did travel in a different direction than the other two robots because it went farther than the other two.Yes its true that Robot B traveled 7.5 meters in 5 seconds because the point is at 7.5 units from the line T and 5 units away from line D. Also it is true that Robot B traveled 3/2 meters per second, because if it traveled 7.5 meters in 5 seconds, you turn it into a rate. You then divide the top and the bottom by five then you get 1.5 over 1. And 1.5 is equal to 3/2. B.) Robot A is faster than Robot C. Because Robot A went 5 meters in 1 second and Robot C went 2 meters in 5 seconds.
two out of the how many robots are there are going the same speed robot.A cant travel at 7.5 in 5 meters but robot b can travel 5meters in 7.5 seconds.
