Family Trip!
January19
Charlie was on a family trip. The diagram below shows what time it was when they started their trip and when he looked at his watch again. Charlie’s mom told him how far they had traveled in that amount of time.
Based on this information, what is the unit rate of the car? Explain what the unit rate means in the context of this problem.
Charles dad said the entire trip is 1200 miles. How long will it take them to get to their destination? Explain how you know!
The unit rate is 1:15/80miles. In the context of the problem unit rate is a rate that compares one unit of a given quantity. At 5:25 they will reach there destination I know because I divided 1200 and 80 and get 17:25 then I subtract 17:25 and 12:00 and get 5:25.
Thanks Jaqueline! Before you can find how long it takes them, you have to find how fast they are traveling!
it them 30 hours to get 1200 miles and I got that by getting the fraction 2 over 80 than divided by 2 and got 1 over 40 than I multiplied by 30 to get 1200 miles and did the same to the top and got 30 over 1200
it would take 30 hours or 1 day and 6 hours because 2 hours is 80 miles and the fraction is 2/80 and the unit rate is 1 so divide 2 by 2 is 1 then divide 80 by 2 and that equals 40 and the entire trip is 1200 miles and 40 times 30 is 1200 the unit rate is 1 times 30 so it took them 30 hours or 1 day and 6 hours.
It would take 30 hours or 1 day and 6 hours because it took 2 hours to get 80 miles so the fraction is 2/80 but the unit rate is 1 so 2 divided by 2 is 1 and then divide 80 by 2 and that equals 40 but the entire trip was 1200 miles and 40 times 30 is 1200 and the unit rate is one so 1 times 30 is 30 so it took them 30 hours.
charlie drove 80 miles in 2 hours so if he went 1200 miles it would be 30 hours
8 hours
How did you get 8 hours?
first I divided 120 and 80. because this was the distance in time. the car was going about 67 mph. s o then I divided 67 and 1200 and got 18.
so it will take them 18 hours to get to there destination.
Thanks Brandon! Where did you get the 120 from?
The unit rate is 3.4 miles / 1 min so if you multiply that by three then you will have 10.89 / 1 min.
Thanks Natalie! Make sure you answer EVERYTHING the problem is asking of you!
first you will divide 80 and 1200 so it took him 15 miles to get to his destination
Thanks Jaylice! Before you can find how long it takes them you need to find how fast they are going!
The unit rate is 40 miles per 1 hour, this means that the car will travel 40 miles every hour. It will take 30 hours to get to their destination, i know this because 1200 miles divided by 40 miles equals 30 hours.
charley was going about 40 mph ( miles per hour)
Thanks Zac! Make sure you answer EVERYTHING the problem is asking for!
2 hrs = 80m 1hr =40m
40 divided 1200 = 30
1. answer 20/1 because originally its 80 miles in 4 hours divide them both by 4 and you get 20 over 1
it should take them 60 hours because 6 times 2 is 12 add two 0s and you get 1200
Thanks Trey! Make sure you read the problem carefully so you don’t use incorrect information to find your answer!
The unit rate of the car is 40 miles per hour because if it is 80 minutes for 2 hours half of it will be 40 miles per hour. It will be 3 hours because if 40 times 3 it will equal 1200 so you will have to multiply 3 by 1 and get 3. So it will be 3 hours if you travel 1200 miles.
Thanks Makayla! Does it seem reasonable that you could drive 1200 miles in 3 hours????
300 mins. because 15×80=1200 and 20×15=300
unit rate is 4miles/1min because it takes 20 mins for 80 miles so when you divide 80 by 20 and you’ll get 4mins
Thanks Mateo! Make sure you answer EVERYTHING the problem is asking!
The unit rate of the car is 40 mph
and it took them 30 hours to get to their destination.
I divided 1200 miles by 40 mph.
The trip would take 12 hours to get to there destination because it takes them 2 hours to drive 80 miles and there is 1200 miles to the destination and 1200 divided by 80 is rounded to 12
Thanks Kennedy! Remember that before you can find how long it takes them, you need to find how fast they are going!
If they stay at that speed, the unit rate would be for 1 hour they go 40 miles. The unit rate in this problem is how much they go per hour. So if they have to go 1200 miles it would take them 15 hours in total.
Thanks Christian! How did you get 15 hours?
You can travel 40 miles in an hour . I found this out from the picture i divided 80 miles by 2 hours to find the unit rate. The unit rate is 40 miles per hour so to find out how many hours it would take Charles dad to travel 1200 miles I divide 1200 miles by 40 miles and got 30 hours
In conclusion in would take Charles dad 30 hours to travel 1200 miles.
You can travel 40 miles in an hour . I found this out by the picture the picture say i took two hour for the guy to travel 80 miles and i need to find the unit rate so i divide 80 miles by 2 hour and got 40 miles per hour as the unit rate. Now to find out how many hours it took Charles dad to travel 1200 miles I divided 1200 miles by 40 miles and got 30 hours
In conclusion it took Charles dad 30 hours to travel 1200 miles
it will take Charles dad 2 hours to drive 1200 miles. let me explain. you put 80 over 1200 and you get 2
Thanks Emma! Does it seem reasonable that they could drive 1200 miles in 2 hours????
1,200 ÷80 is 15… so … 15 hours x 80miles is 1,200 mph… Unit rate means in this case how many miles on the road of how many hours it will take to get their… So 12,00 miles / 15 hours.
Thanks Fane! Before you can find how long the trip will be, you need to figure out how fast they are going!
80 miles for 2 hours
Thanks Jason! Make sure you look at what the problem is asking of you!!! You just repeated information that was already in the problem!
i divded 1200 and 355 and got 3 as my answer
Thanks Michelle! Where did 355 come from?
You move 40 miles per hour in one hour so you would take 30 hours to drive 1,200 miles
so there two clock and she went 2 hours in 80 miles and that would be 2/80 and then you reduce 2/80 and that would be 1/40 and that your answer.
Thanks Kelton! Don’t forget to answer EVERYTHING the question is asking!
1 hr. for every 40 mi. since there going 80 mi. every 2 hrs. you simply divide the time and distance in half.
30 hrs. because divide 1200 mi. by 40 mi. you end up with 30 hrs.
The difference on the clock is 2 hours and the mile they went is 80.If i reduce it becomes 40 miles an hour. If you divide 12oo by 40 you will get 30 minutes.
the car is going 40 miles per hour and i know this becasue the picture showed us that car was going 80 miles by 2 hours than i divided 1200 by 40 to find out how much time it would take to get to the destination and its 30
I divided 2 into 80 and i got 40 thats how i got my answer
Thanks Consuelo! Don’t forget to answer EVERYTHING the problem is asking!
Unit Rate: 40 miles
———–
1 hour
It takes them 30 hours to travel 12000 miles because you would divide 1200 by 40 and that equals 30.
40 miles
1hour
the to find how much time the trip will take you take 1200 and divide it by 40 I got 30
For this blog i got the answer of 30 hours. I got this answer by first dividing 1200 and 40. For the unit rate I got 80/2 and then i simplified it to 40.
On the diagram it shows that Charlie traveled 80 miles in 2 hours. The unit rate of that would be that for every one hour Charlie travels 40 miles. If the total trip was 1,200 miles and you wanted to find the unit rate for it then you would divide 1,200 by 40. Your answer would be 30. Charlies 1,200 mile trip was 30 hours long. (I didnt know if I needed to show my work, It didnt say).
The unit rate is 40 miles per hour because the mom went 80 miles in 2 hours so i divided 80 by 2 to find how many miles per hour. It will take 30 hours to go to their destination and the way i know is because I divided 1200 by 40 because they went 40 miles per hour.
so on the clock it shows that it has been 2 hours but they have to go to 80 mi so now i would divide 80 by 2 and thats 40 and when you divide 1,200 by the number of 40 then you would get 30 in all so they had 30 hours in all.
the unit rate to this problem is 40/1. its miles to hours. for them to get to their destination it would have took 30 hours.
The unit rate in 40 miles per hour. On the first clock it says 11:15 and on the second clock it says 1:15, which is 2 hours apart, which means they traveled 80 miles in 2 hours. 80 divided by 2 is 40, so the unit rate is 40 miles per hour.
It will take them 30 hours because 1200 divided by 40 is 30.
They traveled 40 miles per hour. It will take 3 hours to drive the entire distance. I multiplied the unit rate by 3.
Thanks Ben! Does it seem reasonable that they could drive 1200 miles in 3 hours????
3 hours because they went 80 miles in 2 hours so that means they go 40 mph 1200/40= 3
this is skylarr2014
Thanks Skylar! Does it seem reasonable that they could drive 1200 miles in 3 hours????
The unit rate of the car is 80mi/2hr. This means that they go 40 miles per hour. It will take them 30 hours to reach 1200 miles. Since 40 goes into 1200, 1200 divided by 40 is 30 which is 30 hours.
40 miles per hour because it took 2 hours to drive 80 miles, so you gotta divide 80 by 2 to get the unit rate. Charles’s dad would take 30 hours because the unit rate is 40 miles, so you divide 1200 by 40 and get 30, so that’s the amount of hours the time would take.
you can travel 40 miles in an hour. I found this out because the picture I divided 80 miles by 2 hours to find the unit rate. The unit rate is 40 miles per hour so to find out how many hours it would take Charles dad to travel 1200 miles I divide 1200 miles by 40 and got 30 hours. So in the end it would take Charles dad 30 hours to travel 1200 miles.
The first thing I did was that I saw that it took them to drive 80 miles in 2 hours. The next thing that I did was that I divided 80miles by 2hours and my answer is 40miles per hour so the rate of speed is 40/1 hour.
For the second question I took the 1200 miles that Charles dad said the entire trip would be and I divided it by 40 because they are driving 40 miles per hour, so my answer is 30 hours.
1. 1:40 because 2 hours equals 80 miles, so 2 divided by 2 is 1 and 80 divided. by 2 is 40. That is how I got 1:40. 2. 30:1200 because 1 hour is 40 miles so I divided 40 and 1200 witch equals 30. that’s how I got 30:1200.
Thanks Teresa! Don’t forget that a unit rate needs to have ONE in the denominator!
So if they started driving at 11:15 and when the boy checked his watch, Iit was already 1:15, two hours has already passed and they have traveled 80 miles. So I you divide 80 to 20 , you will get 40 miles an hour. So the unit rate is 40 miles in 1 hour. But the trip is 1200 miles long, so if you travel 40 miles in 1 hour, you will get a 30 hour long trip because if you divide 1200 miles to 40, you will get 30. 30 represents the amout of hours driven.
If the trip started at 11:15 and after 80 miles the time is 1:15 the unit rate is 40 mph.
Using the unit rate, it will take 30 hours to get to the destination. Good luck Charles!
It will take them 15 miles to get to their destination
Thanks Lisbeth! How do you know this?
Per each hour the car will travel 40(mil). The hour that Charels family road trip started was from 11:15-1:15 (2 hour diffrence) and they traveled 80(mil). If you divied the # of miles traveled by the 2 hour diffrence then the unit rate would be 40mil.
It will take the Charles family 30 hours to arrive to their destination.
If it took the Charels family 2 hours for 80 miles and the unit rate equaled 40 miles per hour, and the entier trip is 1200 miles and if you divied the # of miles for th entier trip and divied that by the unit rate (40 miles per hour) you will get a total of 30 hours the Charels family will have to traveld for their entier trip and destination.
it takes 30 hours for you to go 1,200 miles. I know this because you move 80 miles in 2 hours and if you divide 80 by 2 it you get 40 miles by 1 hour so 40 times 30 equals 1,200
The unit rate for this car is 40mi./1hr. which means Charlie’s family went 40mi. per hr.
It will take 30hrs. for Charlie’s family to get to there destination. How I know this is I divided 1200mi./40mi. and got 30hrs. I did this because there family travels 40mi. per hr. so you would divide 1200mi. by 40mi. to get your answer.
the unit rate for this problem is 1/40 because thats half of 2/80 and they traveled 80miles in 2 hours and so if you put 2/80 into simplest form its 1/40 and thats how i got my unit rate. If the family travels 1,200 miles it will take then 15 hours because if you divide 1,200 by80 your anwser is 15 and thats how i knew.
Thanks Mason! Remember that a unit rate needs to have ONE as the denominator! Also, why did you divide by 80 if your unit rate was 40 mph?
We know that they started at 11:15 and at 1:15 they have driven 80 miles. We found that they have driven 80 miles for 2 hours.
So, we divide 80/2 to find the unit rate. Unit rate is 40 miles per hour.
The unit rate shows us how fast car moving.
For them to cover 1,200 miles they need to drive at a pace of 40 miles per hour for 30 hours (1200/40=30)
80miles/2hours is the unit rate it means they had driven 80 miles in 2 hours. it will take 30 hours to get where their going. I know this because I divided 80 by 2 and got 40 for how many miles per hour. So then I divided 1200 by 40 to get the answer of 30 hours.
The unit rate is 12min and they traveled 1200miles in 12min
Thanks Rheon! Does it seem reasonable that they could drive 1200 miles in 12 minutes????
1.The are two hours between 11:15 and 1:15.
2.They went 80 miles in 2 hours, so 80/2=40 mph.
3.They had 1200 miles of the entire trip.
4.So 1200/40=30 hours.
ANSWER: THEY HAD 30 HOURS LEFT OF THEIR TRIP.
Samantha B.
The unit rate of the car is 40 miles/1 hour. This means that the car travels 40 miles in 1 hour.
It would take them 26.7 hours to get to their destination 1200 miles away. I know this because the unit rate is 40 mph, and so I had to use 40 and so I divided 1200 by 40 and got 26.6667 so I rounded it to 26.7.
she goes 40 miles in an hour. i know this because i divided 80 by 2, and got 40, so thats how i got my answer.
Good start Natalia! Don’t forget to answer EVERYTHING the question is asking!
First i divided 2 by 80 and hat how mant miles they rode in 1 hour and in 2 hours they rode 80 miles so the answer is 40 miles because thats how much they rode in one hour.
Good start Ana! Don’t forget to answer EVERYTHING the question is asking!
it will take them 15 hours to get to there destination .
i know this because i divided 1200 by 80 and i got 15 hours.
Oh no! Who does this belong to?
1 hour: 40miles
2 hours: 80 miles
for this solution you have to divide 80 by 2 and you get 40 and 40 is what you get in 1 hour, as shown on the clock on the left. and is you times 2 and 40 you get 80 minutes, as is also shown on the second clock on the right.
Good start Ashleigh! Don’t for get to answer EVERYTHING the problem is asking!
it will be 15 hours to get to there destination.
i know this because i divided 1200 by 80 and i got 15 hours.
Thanks Jimena! Don’t forget that you need to find how fast they are traveling before you can find how long it will take them to get there!
to get the answer u would first have to figure out how many miles they would go in an hour and that would be 40. after u figure that out u would then figure out how many hours they would have to drive to get to 1200 and that would be 30. after u get that u would now have to multiply 30 by 40 and that will get u ur answer of 1200 so in total they drove 30 hours to get to their destination…
wouldn’t it be 30 because if your going two hours and 80 miles divide 80 with 2 and you get fourty then 40 / 1200 is 30 so 30 hours is how long it takes them.
wouldn’t it be 30 because if your going two hours and 80 miles divide 80 with 2 and you get fourty then 40 / 1200 is 30 so 30 hours is how long it takes them.
to get the answer you need to get half of 80 that is 40 then divvid by 1200 and you get 30hr to get to you destination
so 80 miles per 2 hours or 40 MPH. Also, let’s do 1200 / 40 =
30. But, in a unit rate form it is 30 mi over 1min. The answer is
that it’ll take them at least 15 hours if they don’t make any pitstops
on their way there.
# CALCULATER!!!!!! @CHICA:PIZZA!!!.biz
It will obviously be mph because it’s asking how many mph. If it’s been two hours in eighty miles, they’d be going forty mph.
I don’t understand the second one though
Good start Sydney! If you don’t understand part of the problem, please make some time to come get some extra help!
The unit rate is 40 miles per 1 hour. The unit rate in the context of this problem is how far they travel in 1 hour. It will take them 30 hours to get to their destination because if you divide 1200 by 40, then you get 30. If you multiply the unit rate by 30 on the top and bottom, then you end up with 1200 miles over 30 hours. That means that it takes them 30 hours to get to their destination.
1mile/min. It will take him 20 hours. I did 1•60 and got 60 miles per hour and then I divided 60 by 1200 and got 20 hours.
Thanks Shyann! How did you get 1 mile per minute?
The unit rate is 40mph. It will take 30 hours to go 1200 miles because 1200 /40 is 30.
the unit rate would be 1/80 and it would take 5 hours
Thanks Kevin! Does it seem reasonable that you could drive 1200 miles in 5 hours?
1,200 mi would take 30 hours because it takes 2 hours to move 80 mi so if you divide that by 2 and you get 1 hour to move 40 mi, multiply 40 by 30 and you get 1,200.
I divid the number of time and miles and got 10:43hr/1mi
Thanks Alexa! Make sure that you answer the entire question being asked and that your answer is reasonable!
It took them 2 hours to go 80 miles. I divided 80 miles by 2 hours to get 40miles per one hour so the unit rate is 40 miles per hour. The whole trip is 1200 miles so i divided 1200miles by 40 miles per hour to get 30 hours to complete thd trip.
40miles
________
1hour
The unit rate means every hour they wil drive 40 miles.
1200miles
_________
30hours
So how I know is you take 1200 and divide it by 40 and you get 30.
The unit rate is 40 miles/ 1 hr
This unit rate is the constant pattern for miles per hour.
They will take 30 hours to get to their destination.
I got my answer by dividing 1,200 and 40 and I got 30. I didn’t multiply because had the total miles so I didn’t have to multiply to find out the total miles.
The unit rate of the car is 40/1 because it takes 1 hour to travel 40 miles so that means it took 2 hours to travel 80 miles so in order to get the solution of how long it took the family to get to their destination I divided 40 into 1,200 because it took 1,200 miles to get there and the unit rate is 40 miles so it took Charles dad 30 hours to get to their destination ☺️😊😂👌
15 min cause if u divide 1200 by 80 miles it equals 15 and if u check da clock on the pic above u can see dat it was bout 15 min… da unit rate is 1200 over 80 cause if u divide both of them like i said ealier u get 15 ………………. 🙂
Thanks Jeanette! Does it seem reasonable that you could go 1200 miles in 15 minutes?
They went 80 mi in 2 hr so if the went 1200 mi it would take the 30 hr because if u multupied 80 by 15 then u would get 1200 and u multupied 2 by15 it would be 39
It takes 30 hours to go 1,200 miles.Because you move 80 miles in 2 hours you divide 80 by 2 and you get 40 miles by 1 hour. And then 40 times 30 equals 1,200.
the unit rate 40 miles an hour because it takes 1 hour to go 40 miles if you multiply 40 till you get to 1,200 it would be 30 hours to get where the wanted to go
IT WOULD MAYBE BE 30 HOURS OR MAYBE ONE DAY.
First i divided 120(the time they had traveled) by 80 and got 67 miles in 1 hour. Then i divided 67 into 1200 and got 18 as my answer.
It took them 30 hours to drive the trip and the trip was 1200 miles to their destination so I divided 1200 and divided by 30 and got 40
it would take one day and 6 hours and because its 80 mi and then it would take 1\2 oh the rest of the day
it would take 30 mi everyday because if you divide 2 divided by 80 you will get 40 then you divide 40/1200 and you will get 30
Charles went 40mph
it took them 30 hours to get 1,200 miles becuase if you divide 2 by 80 you get 40 then 40×30=1,200
if charlie was driving 40 miles an hour then by 2 hours you would get 80 then and you multiply 40 twice then divide 40 by 1200 and get 30.
take about 30hr for 1 day because 2 hours equal 80 miles
40 mph and it will take 1 day and 6 hours.
The unit rate is 1:15/80 miles in the context of the problem unit rate is a rate that compares one unit rate of a given quantity. They arrived at there destination at 5:25 I got this from doing 1200 divided by 80 and got 17:25.Then I subtract 17:25 and 12:00 and I got 5:25
the awnser is 15/80 because if you take 1200 and divide it by 80 you will get 15
Make sure you read the problem carefully Sean, so that you are answering everything the problem is answering.
Charles and his father will drive for 1 whole day and 6 hours because if you divide 80 by 2 and your answer would be 40 and then you would multiply 40 by 30 and your answer would be 1,200 Miles and your answer is he drove 80 Miles/ 2 Hours
a unit rate is a rate that has to have 1 on the bottom and another one on the top. 80mi should be on the bottem and 1200 miles on top to get a unit rate to find how meny miles they drove
the unit rate is 80 miles over 2 hours. so they were traveling 40 miles per hour. so then I multiplied 1200 by 2 and got 2400 then I divided 2400 by 80 and got 30. so it took them 30 hours to travel 1200 miles. unit rate is the rate that compares one unit rate of a given quantity.
The unit rate is 1:15/80 miles in the context of the problem unit rate is rate that compares one unit of a given quantity. At 5:25 they will reach there destination I know this because I divided 1200 divided by 80 and I got 17:25 then I subtracted 17:25 and 1200 and I got 5:25.
It would take 30 hours and 1 day plus 6 hours because it took 2 hours to get 80 miles so the fraction is 2 divided by 80 but the unit is 1 so 2 divided by 2 is 1 and then divide 80 by 2 and that equals up to 40 but the entire trip was 1,200 miles and 40 times 30 is 1,200 and the unit rate is one so 1 times 30 is 30 so it took them 30 hours to get to were there destination is.
if his dad is go 80mies in 2 hours then it will take them 15 hours to drive 1200. i got my answer by dividing 1200 by 80:)
The answer is 8 and 1/5 because you read the time on both of them then you add both of the times and then times them with 80 and then divide 9840 and 1200 and you will get 8 and 1/5
first, it would take 30 hours or 1 day and 6 hours because 2 hours is 80 miles and the fraction is 2 over 80. next, you divide 2/80 by 2 to get your unit rate. the unit rate is 1 over 40. then if you divide 1,200 by 40 then you get 30. last, my answer is 30 hours. (or 1 day and 6 hours)
The unit rate is 40 miles per hour because on the first clock it says 11:15 and the second clock says 1:15 which that is 2 hours apart which means they traveled 80 miles in 2 hours. 80÷2 =40 so the unit rate is 40 miles per hour. I will take them 30 hours
