Holiday Spending!
January12
According to the National Retail Federation, Americans spent about $254,064,000,000 celebrating Christmas, Kwanzaa, and Hanukkah this year. The U.S. Census says the population of the USA was about 316,000,000 in 2013. Assuming the population did not change in 2014, how much did each American spend during the holiday season? Write your solution as a UNIT RATE!
$254,068,000,000
_______________ = $804 per american
316,000,000
First I made the rate then I divided the two numbers. I got 804 So my answer is that every american spent about $804 last year for the holidays>.
The Americans spend about 254,348,000,000 in the holiday season
Thanks Lisbeth! How much did EACH American spend?
What I did was divided the amount spent and the population together and the solution I got was 804.
254,064,000,000Γ·316,000,000=804
Thanks Stephane! Don’t forget that a rate needs to compare TWO units of measurement!
The answer that I got was $804 total spent. I got my answer by dividing $254,064,000,000 and 316,000,000 and then got $804.
Thanks Lizbeth! Remember that in order to be a rate, you need to compare TWO units of measurement!
254,064,000,000 Dollars

i found this answer by devideing the numorater
by it self and got one i devided the denomorater by the numorater and got 804 and thats how i got my answer
Thanks Zac! Remember that without labels your answer is just a ratio. Also, unit rates have ONE in the denominator!
what i did was i took 254064000000 and rounded the 0 in 064 to a .1 then i took 316000000 and divided it into 254064000000 and i got .80411 so i moved the decimal to the right two times and i got 804 dollars so that is about how much an average american spends during the holidays
mrs ellison u told me to rewrite it and u would delete my old one
804$ is the average amount of money a American spends on the holidays
I figure this out by dividing 254064000000 by 316000000 and I got the answer of 804$ I divide these numbers because you have to split up the total amount of money between the total amount of people .
804 dollars
_________
1 American
Thanks Ben! Don’t forget to explain how you found your answer!
The Unit Rate Is 804, if you divide the numbers of 2014 and 2013
you would get 804 π
If you divide 2014 and 2013, you get a little more than 1. Please pay more attention to details when you are working out the problems!

Thanks Landon! Remember to read the question very carefully and make sure you are answering what it is asking! You were supposed to find how much each person spent!
The denominator will be 315,000,000 Americans.
The top number will be $254,064,000,000.
254,064,000,000 To find the unit rate and get the
————————- denominator to be 1, divide
315,000,000 315,000,000 on both sides of the rate.
315,000,000/315,000,000= 1
254,064,000,000/315,000,000= 806.552381
If we want to get the answer simple, it’s $806.55…I think.
Therefore, each American spent around $806.55 during the holiday season.
804 dollars is the average amount of money an American spends on the holidays. I figured this problem out by dividing 254,064,000,000 by 316,000,000 because when in a rate 316,000,000 people is on the bottom and 254,064,000,000 dollars is on the top so you divide them both by 316,000,000 and you get the answer of 804 on the top and 1 person on the bottom so every person spent 804 dollars over the holidays.
you divide 316 and 254064000000 and get 804
Thanks Dustin! Remember that a rate compares TWO units of measurement!
254,064,000,000/316,000,000=804
So the unit rate is $804 over $1
Thanks Trey! Remember that a rate compares TWO different units of measure!
I divied the rate to get the unit rate
316,000,000/254,064,000,000-rate
The unit rate is
804/1
Thanks Alexa! Remember that without labels, your answer is just a ratio!
So if Americans spent $254,064,000,000 during the holidays and the population “didn’t” change (316,000,000). And You had to find the average amount of money, then you would divide the total amount of money by the population. $254,064,000,000/316,000,000=804 $804 per Person
if Americans spent 254,064,000,000 on the holidays and there are 316,000,000 people living there then the majority would be that they spend 804 dollars every holiday because if you divide 245,064,000,000 and 316,000,000 then you would get 804.:)
Thanks Saray! Remember that a rate compares TWO units of measurement!
the answer is .804 over 1
Thanks Turie! Remember that without units, your answer is just a ratio! How did you find your answer? Does it seem reasonable that each person only spent 80 cents?
The unit rate is 804 because the rate is $254,064,000,000 out of 316,000,000 citizens. so you’d have to divide how much people spend on celebrations by the number of citizens, and I got 804 for the unit rate.
Thanks Barbara! Remember that a unit rate compares TWO units of measurements!
First you would put the money that the Americans spent celebrating Christmas, Kwanzaa, and Hanukkah on the top and then the population of the USA and then you would divide then by the denominator so you would get 804/1
Thanks Kevin! Remember that without LABELS your answer is a ratio!
The unit rate is $840 were spent per person
Thanks Tristin! How did you find your answer?
254,064,000,000 dollars/316,000,000 people
Thanks Emma! Make sure you complete the problem and answer the question being asked! You were to find how much EACH person spent!
Each american spent $804. what I did was i took 254,064,000,000 and 316,000,000 and crossed off the last six 0 then divide 254,064 and 316 and got $804
if you will divide 254,064,000,000 with 316,000,000 each person had to spent 804$ each. 804 is the numerator and the denomintor is 316,000,000
i dived 254,064,000,000 with 316,000,000 and got 804.
Thanks Kelton! Remember that in order for your answer to be a rate, you need to compare TWO units of measurements!
$254,064,000,000 $804

Thanks Rheon! Remember that the units your are comparing should not change! Also, don’t forget to explain how you found your answer!
$804 spent/ 1 American. I did this by dividing $254,064,000,000 by 316,000,000.
$804 during the holiday season
________________________
1 american
Thanks Katie! How did you get your answer?
It is $614,000,000.42 because if you want to know what each person spends during the holiday season you would want to have it like this: 254,064,000,000/316,000,000 so you would want to divide 254,064,000 by 316,000,000 to get your answer.
Thanks Makayla! Does it seem reasonable that each American spends $614 MILLION?
$804/1 American
I got my answer by turning both the numbers into a unit rate which would be 254,064,000,000/316,000,000. I put 316,000,000 as the denominater because i’m trying to find out how much ONE american speant on the holidays and in a unit rate the denominater is always 1. I divided 316,000,000 by itself which is 1, then I divided 254,064,000,000 by 316,000,000 which is 804.
if the rate is $254,064,000/316,000,000 people then you would divide both sides to get $8.04/1 person.
Thanks Julian! Does $8.04 per person sound like a reasonable amount?
The unit rate is 804 because what I did was divide 254,064,000,000 by 316,000,000 and when I did all of the work I came up with the answer of 804, so each American spends about 804 during the holiday season.
$804 is the average amount of money one American spends on the holidays. because if the population doesnt change you would divide 316,000,000 by $254,064,000,000 to make it a unit rate.
$804 per person celebrating holidays.
Thanks Brandon! How did you find your solution?
Each American spent about $804 $804/per person
Thanks Chase! How did you find your answer?
2000$
Thanks Jason! Remember that a unit rate must compare TWO units of measurements. Also, don’t forget to explain how you found your solution!
$804/1person
Thanks Renee! How did you find your answer?
My solution is $804
——
1 person. So that means that each person spent $804 during this holiday season and all i did was divide 254,064,000,000 by 316,000,000 and that equaled 804 and then i divided 316,000,000 by 316,000,000 and that equaled 1. So this is the unit rate.πβ¨ππ
I did $254,064,000,000 Γ· 316,000,000 population and 316,000,000 population Γ· 316,000,000 = $804/1 person population… That’s the unit rate.
Each American spent $804

Thanks Rain! How did you find your answer?
If you divided 254, 064, 000, 000 by 316, 000, 000 you’ll have 804. Therefore the unit rate for an average American spending on the holidays is 804 dollars per each American.
Each American spent $804.00 during the holiday season. How I got this is I divided $254,064,000,000/$316,000,000 to figure out how much one American spent. That’s how I got my answer $804.00.
My answer is $804 ————————— Americans
Thanks Angel! How did you find your solution?
Divide $254,064,000,000 by $316,000,000. And will equal $804 over $1.
Thanks Malea! Remember that rates compare DIFFERENT quantities!
First,I divided 316,000,000 by 254,064,000,000
Then,My answer was $804.00/316,000,000 people
That is how i got my answer
Thanks Moa! Remember, unit rates compare a quantity to ONE unit of another quantity!
The solution is:
254,064,000,000/316,000,000
Take off the zeros so it is easy to divide.
254,064/316=804
Each American spend during the holidays $804.
The first thing that I did was that I divide 254,064,000,000 by 316,000,000 because thatβs how I will find how much each American spends. My answer after I divide is 804 so each American spends $804. My unit rate is $804.
Thanks Kaeden! Remember that in order to write your answer as a unit rate, you must compare TWO units of measurement!
i got an anwser as each american spends about $804 dollars on cristmas because when you divide $254,064,000,000 by 316,000,000 the anwser is 804 so that is how i got my anwser of that each person spends $804 dollars each chistmas/kwanzaa/hanukkah.
