Heart Pumpin’!
September7
Your heart pumps about 5 quarts of blood through its chambers every 60 seconds. A swimming pool (20ft x 60ft) will hold about 65,000 gallons of water.
How many weeks would it take your heart to pump that much blood?
You can find a conversion table HERE!
I was kind of confessed by this one but I think I might have gotten close.
-First I did 65,000/5, because the pool holds 65,000 gallons of water and then I did 5 because thats how much the heart pumps. I got 13,000.
-Then I did 13,000/4, because 4 quarts make a gallon and got 3,250.
-Finally I did 3,250/60 something like 54, so it would take ”54 weeks” to pump all that blood.
Samantha B.
I re-thought this and the first time i did it I was WAY off, so (first) I did: 65,000*4, so I could change the gallons into quarts, and I got 260,000 quarts. Then I did 260,000/5 and got 52,000 minutes.
After that, I have to convert 52,000 mins. to weeks, so dividing by 60 should get me to hours, 866 hours. Now I have to change hours into day, so I would do 866/24, 36 days. Now Days to weeks,
so i divide by 7, which gives me a little over 5 weeks!
Samantha B.
Great job Sammie! I am happy to see you went back and reworked the problem!
Good try Sammie! How did you jump from seconds to weeks?
It would take your heart about five weeks to pump that much blood I did 65,000•4 and got 260,000 quarts.65,000=gallons of water in swimming pool and 4=quarts in a gallon. I did this to convert gallons into quarts. Then I did 260,000 quarts divided by 5 because of 5 quarts of blood we pump and got 52,000 minutes. So then I had to figure out the second half so I did 52,000/60 to get hours and now I have 866 hours/24=36 days equals little more than five weeks.
6.25 x 60 = 730 weeks I multiplied
Hi Cameron! It seems like you didn’t finish this comment! Please go back and complete your work!
fist i mutiplyed 5 quarts with 4 quarts and got 20 then i mutiplyed 65000 galons with 20 and got 1300000 galons
I got my answer by doing 5 divided by 60 and got my answer which was twelve.I forgot to tell you so here it is.
Good try Stephane! Make sure that you explain how you arrived at your solution with LOTS of details!
I took 65,000 gallons and multiplied by 4 to get a common unit of quartz. Then got 260000 and divided that by 5 since it was 5 quartz per min and got 52000 qpm then divided by 60 to get qph and that was 866.66 then divided that by 24 to get qpd that was 36.1 then I divided that by 7 to get qpw which was 5.16. Therefore the answer would be it takes little over 5 weeks
The answer is 5.15 weeks.
first I converted gallons to quarts 65000 x 4 = 260000
then I found out that the heart pumps 300 quarts a hour and 7200 a day.
I took the quarts of the swimming pool (260000) and divided it by how many quarts the heart would pump a day.
260000/7200=5.15 weeks
It would take a week.
Good try Cristian! Make sure you explain how you arrived at your solution! Your explanation is what helps me to understand your thinking!
I wen’t on a calculator and it takes 840 days for your blood pump 120 times.
Hi Angel! Good try, but make sure you answer what the problem is asking of you! Is this angeli2014?
OOPS! THE SITE WONT LET ME TYPE IT ALL SO THIS IS THE RIGHT ONE.
you multiply 65000 by 5 and get the product of 325000 and that is the amount of quarts. you then multiply 325000 by 60 and get the number of seconds it takes- 18500000. then you divide that by 7 – number of days in a week- and get 30.5886247 which you can simplify to 30.5. then i put the number of months which is about 8 months.
SO MY ANSWER IS: IT TAKES 30.5 WEEKS (about 8 months) FOR YOUR HEART TO PUMP 65,000 GALLONS THROUGH YOUR BODY.
Good try Sydney! Did you use the conversion table to convert quarts to gallons?
it will take your heart to pump that much blood is going to de 43
Good try Lisbeth! Make sure you explain how you arrived at your solution. It is your explanation that helps me to understand your thinking!
for my answer I got 5.16.
Great job Moriah! Make sure you explain how you arrived at your solution! Your explanation is what helps me to understand your thinking!
My answer to this question is 5 weeks. Reason being is that there are 4 quarts in a gallon. Since there are 5 quarts of blood in 60 seconds it is 1.25 gallons in 60 seconds. So I divided 65,000 by 1.25 because there is 65,000 gallons of water and we want to know how much it will give your heart that much in a few weeks or so. So when I divided 65,000 by 1.25 my answer was 52,000. But we want to know how many weeks, so I multiplied 52,000 by 60 to find how many seconds that it pumped to make that much gallons. So I multiplied 52,000 by 60 I got 3,120,000. 3,120,000 seconds are equivalent to 5 weeks. So my answer is 5 weeks.
If the heart pumps about 5 quarts of blood every 60 sec you need to divid the 60 and i t12 weeks i divided it beacuse it said many and that is a clue that you need t divded t prblome and that how i got the 12 weeks for the answer.
Good try Alexa! Make sure your explanations are SUPER detailed so I can understand your thinking!
First I added 60·5=300. And then I added 65,000·5=325,000and I divided that number by 20 and I got 20÷325,000=16,250and that my answer 16,250
Good try Consuelo! Your thinking is hard to follow! Make sure you provide super detailed explanations!
the answer would be about a week. i got this answer by first converting gallons to quarts so i took 65,000 gallons multiplied by 4 because there is 4 quarts in one gallon the answer to that was 260,000. then i had to figure out how many minutes were in a week and that was 10,080 minutes in a week. after that i took the number of quarts in our gallons which was 260,000 divided by that one week. and that was 10,080 and that answer was 50,400 so that basically covers our 65,000 so to pump that much blood you will need about a week and two days.
Great try Audra! Make sure you check to see if your solution sounds reasonable. 1 week does not seem long enough if the heart pumps 1.25 gallons of blood every minute. 🙂
What I did was I find out how many quarts the heart pumps in an hour then multiplied it by 24 to find out how many quarts it pumped in an day then I divided by four to break it down in to gallons then i took that number and divided it by 65000 and got the number 36r200 and divided 36 by 7 for the days in a week and came up with 5weeks and 1 day that is how many weeks it would take your heart to pump that much blood!
Great job Rachel! That was a different way of looking at this problem. I LOVE when students find alternate ways to complete problems!
Hi miss Ellison my answer is 74 weeks how I got that is I did this
5\65000=13000 then 5\1300=2600
After that I 2600\60=520 then finally I
7\520=74
Great try Turie! Is that how many quarts it would pump or gallons?
5*60 equals 300. 300 divided by 65000 equals 21 days
Great try Eric! Make sure your explanation is REALLY detailed so I can understand your thinking!
It would take 3 weeks for the heart to pump that much blood
Great try Alex! Can you explain how you found your answer? Your explanation helps me to understand your thinking! 🙂
we you the heart pump 5 in 60 seconds so we need to mutuality 1.25 times 60 then you get 75. Then you want to times 24 by 75 you will get 180.Then you want to mutuality 7 by 180 you will get 32400 then you divide 65000
Great start Kelton! Make sure you are checking to see that your answers make sense. Does it seem reasonable that 24(75) is only 180?
5 quarts=60sec
1.25gal=60sec
1.25=1min
times1.25 to 60
you get 75.00 then you get 1 hour
65000gal divied by 3.125
Great try Jadalynn! Can you explain your work in words? It is very difficult to follow your thinking without an explanation!
It would take 10 weeks in order for that much blood to fill a swimming pool because.5•13000=65,000 and if you multiply 20•60 that would equal 1,200 and if u divide 13,000 divided by 1,200 it would equal 10 and that’s the number of weeks it would take in order for that much blood to fill up a swimming pool
Great try Julian! Make sure that you explain ALL of your thinking! I lost you at 5(13,000). 🙁
5×4=20/min
20×60=1,200/hour
1,200×24 = 28,800 / day
28,800×7 = 201,600 / 1week
201,600 ÷ 65,000 = 0.33 infinity
My answer is: It takes about 33 weeks to pump that much blood.
Great try Jasmin! Can you explain your thinking? It is hard to follow your work without an explanation. 🙁
First up you would figure out how many gallons 5 quarts equals which is 1.25.Then you figure how many minutes there are in an hour which is 60 so you multiply 60 and 1.25 which is 75. Then you multiply 75 by 24 (which is how many hours there are) and you get 1800 which you then multiply by 7 days a week which is 12600 you then divide that and 65000 and get 5.16 weeks as your answer.
To get the amount of weeks that you’re heart would pump you would have to multiply all t he numbers untilll you get 12600 then from there you dived 65000 and 12600 then you would get 5.1 so you would have to make 6 because if i were to say 5 weeks. There wouldnt be enough blood. So the final answer 6 weeks
Great job Christian! Make sure that you explain EVERY step you use to solve problems!
5 quarts is 1.25 gallons per minute. so 1.25 multiplied by 60 = 75 so the heat pumps 75 gallons of blood every hour and 1800 gallons in day and 12600 gallons in a week so I multiplied 12600 by 5 and got 63000and then I took 1800 which was a day and got 64,800 which is a day and a week
Great start Landon! Why did you multiply the amount pumped in a week by 5? Can you clarify your thinking please?
To get my answer i found out how many quarts it pumps in one hour (300) then found out how many quarts it pumps in a day (7200 quarts). Then I changed the quarts per day into gallons and got 1550 gallons, so then i divided 65,000 gallons by 1550 gallons then got 42 days it takes to pump 65,000 gallons. After that I divided 42 by 7 to find how many weeks it takes and got 6 weeks for my answer.
Great job Jasmin! That was a different way of approaching this problem! I LOVE when students find alternate ways of looking at math!
I changed quarts into gallons then next I changed seconds into minutes then minutes into hours then hours into days then days into weeks I found each amount of gallons and put it with each either into minutes, hours, days or weeks and I then divided my final answer which is 9,100 by 65,000 and I got 7.14 which is about 8 weeks
First I changed quarts to gallons. Then I had to change 60seconds into a minute,1hour, 1day, and then one wee. After I did that I multiplied how many gallons there are by 60 then I took that answer and multiplied it by 7. After that I divided 65,000 by 12,600. Finally I got the answer which was 5.16 weeks
It would take your heart 7 weeks to pump 65,000 gallons of blood. I know this because i took 4 quarts and made it into gallons. Then i fuigured out that there are 60 minutes in an hour. Then i took the 60 and multiplied it by 24 to find the total amount of gallons a day because there are 24 hours in a day and the total was 1440. Then i times that by 7 because there is 7 days in a week. Then i took 10,080 (that total) and took 65,000 and divided it by 10,080 and got 6.44. Then i rounded to seven because i only used 4 quarts instead of 5.
Great job Hailey! Make sure you are giving the most precise answer possible!
the answer is 10 weeks and two days
Hi David! How did you come to your solution? Make sure you explain how you solved your problems! Without an explanation, I can not understand your thinking. 🙁
The answer is approximately 5 weeks. 1 min pump 5 quarts, 1 day volume = 24 hrs x 60 min x 5= 7200 quarts =1800 gallons. For 65,000 gallons, 65,000/1800 = 36.11 days = 5.16 weeks.
50400/4= 12600×7=88200 About two weeks to pump that much gallons of blood.
Great start Walter! Please make sure that your explanation is super detailed so it is easy to follow your thinking. Also check to see if your answer is reasonable! 2 weeks does not seem like enough time to pump 65,000 gallons of water!
The answer is 5 weeks. i did this by 1 minute pumps 5 quarts, 1 day volume =24 hours times 60 minutes times 5 = 7200quarts =7200 quarts =1800 gallons . For 65000 gallons, 6500/1800=36.11 days = 5.16 weeks. That is how i got 5 weeks!!!
The answer is got was 5 weeks because I times 1.25 by 60 then got 75, 75•24 because that’s how many hours in a day, the answer was 12,600.so 12,600 divided by 65,000 was 5 with a whole lot of decimals. So if you round it you get 5 weeks
It will take 5.15 weeks for your heart to pump that much blood (but why would you want a pool full of blood anyways????) . I got this answer by changing the quarts into gallons by dividing 5 by 4 which is 1.25. Then I multiplied that by first 60, then 24, then 7, to get how many gallons your heart will pump in a week, which was 12,600. I divided 65,000 by that which is 5.15 (with a lot more decimals. ).
Great job Jianna! I agree…pool full of blood = yuck!
So i multiplied 7×24 and got 168. Then i searched how many seconds are in a hour and got 3600 seconds. So i multiplied 168×3600 and got 604800 seconds in a week. So i multiplied the number of gallons of water 65000×4 and 4 is the amount of qts in a gal and got 260000 qts of water. Then i took 5/60 and reduced it to 1/12,next i multiplied 1/12x 604800 and got 50400qts a week. So i divided 260000 by 50400 and got an answer of 5.1 weeks= 5 weeks 1 day.
Great job Rheon! That was a different way of solving this problem! I LOVE when students find alternate ways of looking at math!
It would take 7 weeks and 1 day to pump that much blood.
First I transformed 5 quarts of blood into gallons and got 1.25 gallons every 60 seconds. Second I converted 60 seconds into 1 minute. Next I multiplied 1.25 by 60 and got 75 gallons per hour. Then I multiplied 75 by 24 and got 1,800 gallons per day. After that I multiplied 1,800 by 7 and got 12,600 gallons per week. Last I divided 65,000 by 12,600 and got 6 weeks and 15 days so I converted the 15 days into 2 more weeks and 1 day and added to get a final answer of 7 weeks and 1 day.
okay so what I did to get my answer was seeing how many gallons are in 5 quarts. once I found that I looked to see how many gallons were in 60 seconds, 1 minute, 1 hour, 1 day, and 1 week. I got those answers and then multiplied them by 60,24, and 7 because that’s how many minutes, days, and weeks are in those amount of times. after all that I divided my answer to that (which is 12,600) by 65,000 because that’s how much water a swimming pool can hold. After all that my total answer would be about 5 weeks.
Sorry my first answer was wrong. So what I did was first find how many gallons were in sixty seconds, one minute, one hour, one day, and one week. After I got the answers I multiplied them by 60, 24, and 7 because that’s how many minute and days and weeks are in that amount of time. After all of that I finally divided my answer (aka:12,600) by 65,000 because that’s the amount of water a swimming pool can hold. My final answer was about 5 weeks.
Great job Katie! I like how you went back and fixed your solution!
first I got seconds to 1 week then I multiplied 1,800 times 7 and my answer turned out to be 12,600
Great start Montserrath! Be sure to check that you completed what the problem was asking of you!
If the human heart pumps 5 quarts of blood a minute, and 4 quarts make a gallon, the heart pumps 1.25 gallons a minute. 1.25X60=75 (for a hour) 75X24=1,800 (for a day) 1,800X7=12,600 (for a week) so it would take just over 5 weeks to fill the pool because 12,600 does not go into 65,000 evenly. The answer when using decimals is 5.15873016
It takes one half of a week for the heart to pump 65,000 gallons of blood. I converted quarts to gallons then converted that to weeks.
Good try Ben! Be sure to explain how you arrive at your solution with LOTS of details! It is the explanation that helps me understand your thinking!
if i wanted to fill a pool that holds 65,000 gallons of water and find out how long it would take. i would first figure out how many gallons are in 5 quarts which is 1.25 every 60 seconds. then i would multiply 1.25 by 60 to find out how much blood is being pumped into my heart every hour and i got 7,500. then i m ultiplyed 7,500 by 24 to asee how much blood is pumped into the heart every day and i got 1,800. then i multiplyed 1,800 by 7 to see how much blood is pumped into the heart every week and i got 12,600.then i divided 12,600 by 65,000 but i canceled out the equal 0’s and i got 126 by 650 and i figured it would take aproximently 5 weeks to fill a pool that holds 65,000 gallons of water with blood that was pumped from the heart.
~savannah
5 quarts x 60 sec x 24 hrs (hrs in a day)= 7,200 quarts
7,200 quarts / 4 quarts =1,800 gallons
65,000 gallons / 1,800 gallons = 36.11 days
36.11 days/ 7 days = 5.16 weeks
ANSWER: 5.16 weeks = to 5 weeks..
Great job Eliano! I like how organized your work is!
What I did was I multiplied 1.25 by 60 to get 75.00. Then I multiplied 1800 timed by 7 to get 12600. And my last step was dividing 65000 by 12600. And I got my final answer = 5 weeks
My answer is 5.15 weeks because 5 quarts = 1.25 gallons in a minute and since I know that there are 60 minutes in an hour than I multiplied the 1.25 gallons by 60 and i got 75 gallons in an hour and I know there are 24 hours in a day I multiplied the 75 gallons by 24 and I got 1,800 gallons in 1 day and I know that there are 7 days in a week then I multiplied 1,800 by 7 and i got 12,600 gallons in a week and I have to figure out how many week it would take to fill up the 65,000 gallon pool so I divided 12,600 and 65000 and I got 5.15 MY ANSWER.
if it takes 387 days to pump 65,000 gallons of blood
Hi Cole! Make sure you read what the problem is asking you to find! Also, make sure you explain how you found your solution with LOTS of details so I can understand your thinking!
I multiplied hours to days then days to weeks.
After that I divided what I got by 65,000gl
And got about 3 weeks.
Oh no! Who’s answer is this?
I started with 1.25 gallons per minute. You start with 65,000 gallons in the pool.
I started by dividing 1.25 to 65,000 and I got 52,000. What I did with the 52,000 is that i divided 52,000 by 60 and got 866.66. I divided 866.66 by 24 and got 36 days.
After that i divided 36.11 by 7 and I got 5.15 weeks.
The answer is 5.15 weeks .
Great job Daniel! That was a different way to approach this problem! I LOVE when students find alternate ways to solve a problem!
I multiplied 5 * 60=300to find out how many quarts are in an hour. then I divided 4/300=75 I did that so I could figer out how many gallons are in 300 quarts. then multiplied 75 * 24=1800 I did that so I could figure out how many gallons per day. then I multiplied 1800 * 7=12600 I did that so I could figure out how many gallons per week. then I divided 12600/65000=5.1 that is the answer.
it takes 5.1 weeks to pump 65,000 gallons of blood.
Great job Brandon! That was a very different way of thinking about this problem. 🙂 I love when students find alternate ways to solve a problem. 🙂
First you have to convert quarts to gallons. And 5 quarts equals 1.25 gallons. Then you to multiply 60 seconds times 24 hours times 7 days which equals 10080 minutes in a week. Then you have to divide 1.25 gallons into 65000 gallons which is 52000 gallons. Then you have to multiply 52000 gallons by 60 seconds which equals 312000 minutes. Then finally you have to divide 10080 minutes into 312000 minutes which is 31 , so it would take 31 weeks for your heart to pump that much blood.
Good try Kateena! I am confused as to why you divided the gallons in the pool by the gallons the heart pumps each minute and then the gallons by the minutes. Can you reread your explanation and clarify for me?
I times 60 min and 60 hours and the aacer and times it by day and weeks and got 51 weeks
Good try Alexa! Be sure to read your explanation…or better yet, have someone else read it for you to make sure it makes sense! I don’t really follow you thinking on this post! 🙁
first you would need to find out how many quarts are in a gallon. there are 4 quarts in 1 gallon.so you can convert 65,00 to 260,000 quarts then sense 5 quarts are produced in a minute you would divide 260,00 by 5 and you would get 52,000 minutes then you need to convert 52,000 minutes into a hour then a day and then to a week. so the answer would be 51 weeks is your answer.
Great try Toni! I can not really follow your thinking in this. Be sure to work this out on paper and read over your answer so that your explanation makes sense!
I think that the answer is 5 Weiss because of you do all of the steps which aré that you have to multiply until you finally get an answer which is 12,600and divide and get the answer 5 weeks
Great start Susana! Be sure your explanation includes ALL of the processes you used to arrive at your solution! The more details the better!
It would take 19 weeks to pump 65,000 gallons of blood
Hi Jameson! How did you come by your solution? Be sure to EXPLAIN your thinking so I can understand your thought processes!
It would take about 65.1 weeks for your heart to pump 65,000 gallons of blood.I got this answer by converting 5 quarts into gallons then I multiplied 60sec , 60min, 24 hr, 7 days and 7 weeks I got 4233600. Then I divided 4233600 and 65000 and got the answer 65.1 weeks.
Great start Jaqueline! Are you multiplying be each of those values or are you converting each value to a different form?

1.25x=3,900,000

—————————————————————————–
Since each fourth of a gallon is 0.25 gallons, and there are four quarts in a gallon, I added 1+0.25 and I got 1.25 gallons. The, to solve the problem I used the equation 1.25 over 60 seconds equals 65,000 gallons over x. To solve the equation I did 1.25 times x equals 60 times 65,000. I got 1.25x equals 3,900,000. I divided both sides by 1.25 and I got x=31.2. It would take my heart 31.2 weeks to pump 65,000 gallons of blood.
My answer is 5.16 weeks.
How I got this was first I multiplied 65,000 by 4 to get the number of quarts in the pool which is 260,000 quarts. Then I divided 260,000 by 5 to get the number of minutes it would take for the heart to fill the pool and that’s 52,000 minutes. Then I figured out how many minutes are in a week by multiplying 60x24x7 and got 10,080 minutes in a week. Then I divided the number of minutes (52,000) by the number of minutes in a week (10,080) and got the answer 5.16 weeks!
The first thing I did was convert gallons into quarts for the swimming pool. So I took 65,000 gallons and multiplied it by 4 to get me the amount of quarts, because 1 gallon equals 4 quarts. So my answer is 260,000 quarts.
The second thing I did is to convert how many quarts the heart pumps of blood through its chambers. So, what I did is multiply 5 by 60 seconds because that will tell me how many quarts that will get me in an hour. After that I got 300 quarts then I multiply 24 because that will give me that many quarts in a day. When I finished I got 7,200 per day and I multiplied that by 7 days because that will give me the answer for the week and that gave me 50,400 quarts. The final step I did is to find out how many weeks it would take, so I took 260,000 and divided it by 50,400 that will get me the weeks. My answer is 5 weeks and a day.
i got my answer by converting min to hrs to days to weeks and then to months. then when i got my answer i divided 126 by 650. my answer is 5.40.
Great job Dayne! Is there a label that should be attached to the 5.4?

Hi Addie! I’m not sure I follow your work here. Can you go back and use words to explain your thinking around each step?
It would take 1 week and 1 1/2 days to pump 65000 gallons of blood ( water ) through your hart. You have to find out how many minutes are in 1 day then multiple that by 7. Then divid that in to 65000 and got 1.28. Then I converted the .28 to days. Then my answer is 1 week and 1 1/2 days.
Great start Alyssa! It seems like you missed some steps though. Please go back and check your work. 65,000 gallons seems like a lot to pump in just 1.5 weeks!
It will take about 5 weeks for your heart to fill up 65,000 gallons. First I divided 4 by 65,000 because 4 quarts = a gallon and I got 12,250. Then I figured out that your heart can pump 5 quarts in a minute. Then I multiplied 5 by 60 to figure out how much quarts the heart can pump in an hour. Then I multiplied that by 24 to figure out how much quarts your heart can pump in a day. Then I multiplied that by 7 to figure out how much quarts your heart can pump in a week. Then I converted the amount of quarts in a week and I got 12,600. Then I divided 65,000 by 12,600 and I got 5.2 so the answer is about 5 weeks.
Great job Chase! If your answer was more than 5, could you pump all that water in just 5 weeks?
The answer would be 6 weeks to fill the 20ft by 60ft swimming pool because you would have to convert seconds to minutes to minutes to hours from hours to day and days from weeks. Then the quarts from gallons and then your answer would be 6 weeks to fill the whole swimming pool with your blood from your heart.
It would take 5.16 weeks to pump through 65,000 gallons of blood.
5 quarts in a minute x 60 minutes for an hour = 300 quarts
300 quarts in 60 minutes = 7,200 quarts in one day
to find out how many gallons I divided 7,200 quarts by 4 to make 1,800 gallons in a day
1,800 gallons in a day times 7 days a week = 12,600 in a week
65,00 divided by 12,600 equals 5.16 weeks
So first I multiplied 60 and 5 to get how many quarts an hour. 60×5=300 Then I multiplied the 300 by 24 to get how many quarts a day. 300×24=7,200 Then I multiplied the 7,200 by 7 for how many quarts in a week. 7,200×7=50,400 Then I converted the 65,000 gallons to quarts by multiplying it by 4. 65,000×4=260,000 Finally I divided 260,000 by 50,400 and got my answer. 260,000/50,400=5.2 weeks to fill the pool.
First I changed quarts to gallons. Then I changed seconds to minutes. Then you multiply 1.25 gallons (which is what we changed 5 quarts to 1.25 gallons), by 60 to get the amount of heart beats in an hour. That equaled 7,500gallons. To get an amount in a day you multiply 24 by 7,500gallons. That is 30,000. To get your final answer for how many times your heart beats in a week, you multiply 30,000 by 7. Your final answer is 210,000 weeks.
Cierra, does this answer seem reasonable?
we have to convert time first. i start with the min to hrs conversion for time because 60 seconds is equal to 1 min.
60 sec = 1 min 1 gallon = 4 quarts
60 min = 1 hr
24 hr = 1 day 5 quarts = 1.25 gallons
7 days = 1 week
60*24*7=10080 quarts a week 10080*1.25 = 12600 gallons
65000 (total gallons) ÷ 12600 (gallons per week) = 5.15873016
it would take 5.15873016 weeks
I did 6500*4 and got 260,000
Then I did 260,000/5 and got 52,000
Next I did 866/4 and got 36 days
Witch means a little over 5 weeks
for my answer I got 5.15 weeks.
I got my answer by doing 65000×4=26000.
Your heart pumps 7200 a day and 300 quarts in an hour.
last I took 7200/26000=5.15
First I multiplied 65000 by 4 and got 260000 then I divided 260000 by 5 and got 52000 then I divided 52000 by 60 and got 866 then I dividedn866 by 24 and got 36 then I divided 36 by 7 and got just a little over 5 weeks. so the answer is just over 5 weeks is how long it would take.
5 quarts a min *60 =300 quarts an hour. 300 * 24 is 7,200 quarts a day. 7,200 divided by 4 =1,800 gallons a day *7 days a week =12,600 gallons a week. 65,000 divided by 12,600 =5.16 weeks
so first i found out how many quarts the heart pumps in one hour then i multiplied that by24 to figure out how much blood a heart would pump in a day. Then i divided it by 4 to convert it into gallons and then i divided it by 65,000 and got 36×200 and then divided 36 by 7 because there are 7 days in a week and after doing all of that work i came up with my final anwser of 5 weeks and 1 day.
p.s. Sorry its late
What I figured out is that there are 5 quarts in a minute, so 60 would be 300 quarts an hour. 24 hours is 7,200 quarts of blood a day. After I got this, I divided 7,200 and 4, and the answer I got is 1,800. So OK that would be for a whole day. So, 7 days a week would be, 12,600 gallons a week.
and after that, I got 5 weeks.
(Sorry that its late)
I mulitplyed hours to days, then days to weeks.
After that i divided what i got by 65,000gl
and got about 3 weeks.
it would pump 5 weeks and 1 day
-First, I found out how many quarts the heart pumps in an hour… -Then, multiplied it by 24 to find out how many quarts it pumped in an day…
-After that, I divided by four to break it down in to gallons…
-Next, I took that number and divided it by 65000
-And then, got the number 36r200 and divided 36 by 7 for the days in a week…
-\FINALLY!came up with 5weeks and 1 day that is how many weeks it would take your heart to pump that much blood!! (:
I got 5.16 for my answer
I was really confused but my answer is 10 weeks
ok, so first I did sixty five thousand gallons times five quarts and I got three hundred twenty five gallons and that is obviously to many weeks for your heart to pump sixty five thousand gallons of blood so then I did sixty seconds times five quarts and I got three weeks as my answer. Boy, that was kind of hard but it is all worth because this blog is really a lot of fun because there is lots of cool stuff on here. (: =-)
