Disney Maintenance
April20
It takes a lot of work to keep Disneyland’s two parks looking top notch. Some of that work is making sure that all the equipment is freshly painted and looking its best. When it comes time to paint the Ferris Wheel, Disneyland maintenance crews need to use a little math to get the job done. The diameter of the Ferris Wheel is 160 feet. They need to paint both of the outside rails of wheel red. How many feet total of red paint will they be painting? Explain how you found your solution.
they would need 1004.8 ft of red paint I found this by using the formula c=pi times d which ended up being 502.4 but multiply that times 2 because they have to paint both of the 2 rails.
i found the circumfance by using c=pid and when i got the answer (502.40) i multiplied it by 2 because there is two rails and i got 1004.80
first I set up the forumla and it is c=3.14d. then I did c=3.14(160). I multiped 3.14 by 160 and got 502.40.C=502.40ft
when i multiplied 160*3.14 using the formula of C=3.14D i had gotten 50240 but then i moved the decimal over two and came out with 502.4feet
when i multiplied 160*3.14 using the formula of C=3.14D i had gotten 50240 but then i moved the decimal over two and came out with 502.4
what i did is i multiplied the diameter by pi and i got the circumference of 502.40 feet
formula= c=pi times d
PI = 3.14
D=160
missing measurment = 188.40 ft squared
Does this answer seem reasonable?
to get your answer you have to do the formula C=3.14d after you times 3.14 and 160 you get 502.4,there are two sides so u have to add 502 to its self…you end up of getting an answer of 1,004ft ;O
The awnser is 1,004ft. You take 160 multiply it by pi= 3.14 wich it = 502 then you add 502 plus 502 wich = 1004ft.
I times pi to one hundred and sixtey and got five hundred two.five hundred two + five hundred two equals one thousand four feet.so the have to paint 1,004 ft
the answer is 1’004.8 because if you multiply 160 x 2 x 3.14
the answer is 1004.8 because if you use the cercumfrence 160 and multiply it by the diameter 2 then once more to pi you get 1004.8
They will need 376.8 feet of red paint for the Ferris wheel. I know because I did the formula C=pi x D. and that is 188.4 feet, but there were 2 of the same circles, so I multiplied by 2, and I got 376.8 feet.
Diameter = 160 feet.
The formula to use: c=Π*d
?=3.14*160
Dear Mrs. Ellison,
What you see on the top are the beginnings of my notes, and helpers that will help you understand what I am doing.
For starters as you can see I am using the normal use of the formulas you taught me. What you also can see, is that I also figured out what everything is in values. Let’s get straight to the point. The answer is…
502.4 feet.
I figured this out by multiplying 160 by 3.14.
Thank you for reading this
Sincerely
Loren T. Elder
C=Dπ
3.14 X 160 = 502.4
Each Of The Outside Rails will be the circumfrence will be 502.4 feet.
well it would be 320 i got that from taking the diameter and timesing it bye 2 1 and i got 320
What is the formula for circumference?
My answer would be for the circumference is… 20,096
and
My answer would be for the feet for the 2 rails is… 40,192
How I got my answer for the circumference is by… doing 160/2=80 squared then did 80*80=6400. then I did 6400*Pi or 3.14= 20096 for the circumference.
How I got my answer for the feet of 2 rails is by… taking 20096*2=40192 and that’s the answer for the feet of 2 rails to be painted red 🙂 HAPPY LATE EASTER 🙂
multiply 160×3.14 to get 502.4. 502.4 is the cicumference of 1 circle. multiply 502.4×2 to get 1004.8. 1004.8 is the total number of feet is how many feet the painters wil have to paint.
Sorry my mistake its…
The circumference is 50,240
The feet would be is 100.480ft
Be careful with the decimal point!
c=pi(d)
c=3.14(160)
c=?
pi=3.14
d=160
c=3.14(160)
c=502.40ft.
you have to time the diameter and pi to get the answer. then you have your circumfrence. 🙂
1004.8
160ft*2*3.14=1004.8
160 * 3.14 = 502.4 feet * 2 = 1008.8 feet
They need to paint 1008.8 ft because it would go around both sides of the Ferris Wheel and when I was reading this problem I thought I could use the Diameter Operation in our Notes to solve this and I found out the Circumference is 502.4 then multiplied it by two to get around the entire Ferris Wheel.
106 * 3.14 = 502.4 ft * 2 = 1008.8 feet
The Paint that Maintenance needs is 1008.8 ft to go around the Circumference of this Ferris Wheel and how I solved it was that I used the “If I Know my Diameter” section of my Notes in my Binder to help solve this and then I took my answer and multiplied it by 2 to get 1008.8 feet and then I rewrote it and did it again and surely enough I got 1008.8 ft again and wrote it off as correct.

I used the formula which is c=2(3.14)(r). First I found my radius. I did 160÷2=80. Then I multiplied 2×3.14×80 and I got 502.4. So my answer is 502.4ft .
c=3.14d what i get was 502.4 502.4 *02 252405.76 is what i get all together+
Does that answer seem reasonable?
c= 3.14d what i got was 502.4 and it is 1004.8
c=3.14D what I got was 502.4 1004.8 i used the formula of c=3.14D
c=3.14D what I got was 502.4 1004.8 i used the formula of c=3.14D ☺☻♥
c =3.14x 160= 502.4 502.4 x 2 = 1004.8 ft i got this by multiplying 3.14 x 160 and got 502.4 and then times it by two and got 1004.8 ft
I got 502.4 because they have to get the area and the formula is A= pi times diameter because they gave me the diameter
Is it the area that you found?
first you multiply 160 x 3.14 and you get 33440 then you add the decimal and yuo get 334.40
they would have to paint 334.40 feet of red paint on the fariswheel
c=d*pi*2 find your formula
c=160*pi*2 find variable
c=160*3.14*2 find variable
160*3.14=502 do work
c=502*2 times 2
502*2=1004 do work
c=1004ft plug in for problem
Good job explaining step by step. 🙂
1004.8 feet of paint would be needed to paint it
Oops I did the wrong formula the answer is 20,096ft
160 + 160 =320
320
Does this answer seem reasonable?
They will paint 1004.8ft. I did 160 and multiplied it by 3.14 and I got 502, then I multiplied 502 by 2 and I got 1oo4.8Ft. 🙂
The total is 1,004.8 ft of red paint. I got this answer by the formula of circumference which is C= d x pi. So the diameter is 160 and i multiplied that by 3.14 (pi) and got 502.4. But then it said both outside rails so i multiplied 502.4 by 2 and got the answer 1,004.8.
c=pi r2
c=3.14(160/2=80)x80
c=3.14×6400=200.96ft2
so the circumference of the Ferris wheel would be 200.96ft2
Did you find circumference or area?
the answer is 502.4 because i multiplied pi and the diameter
They need to paint 502.4 ft of the ferris wheel. I found my solution by multilpying the diameter by pi and got that answer. Since you said there painting the outside rails i thought of circumference.
i did 3.14 x 160 i get 332.40 then i times it by 2 because they have to do both sides of the wheel and when i took 332.40 time 2 i got 664.80
ops i meant 502.4 times 2 =1004.8
ops i meant 502.4 x
2 =1004.8
C=3.14 X D
So D equals 160 and you have to multiply it by 3.14 and get 502.40 since the problem says both wheels I multiplied it by 2 and got 1004.80ft.
They will need 502.4ft of red paint to paint the whole outside railing of the Ferris wheel. The way I found my solution was by using the formula to find circumference which is C = 3.14 times diameter.
they will be panting 502.4 feet of red paint
so the way i did this was i used the formula C= (pi) x d
so my equation was 160 x 3.14 and when you multiply out it equals 502.4.
My answer is 1004.8 .The way i got the answer was getting 160 and multiplying it by 3.14 and then multiplying the answer by 2.
i meant to say my answer is 1004.8 ft.
502.4 ft
i found this by using the “if i know the diameter” formula
which is c=pi.D
c=3.14(160) 160 * 3.14= 502.4
😉 😉 😉 😉
320 feet cause the diameter is 160 feet and theres two wheels so 160+160 =320
What is the formula for circumference?
The feet total of red paint will be 251.2
Does that answer seem reasonable?
502 square feet. I did 3.14 x 160 and got 502 and I knew I needed to square my answer.
its 502.4 because the formula is c=pi x d so I did 160 x 3.14 and got 502.4
Formula- C=(pi)d
Diameter=160 ft
3.14
160
_____
502.4 total of painting ft
I got 1004.8 because I multiplied 160 by pi which was 502.4 and then I multiplied that by 2 since there are two rails.
*1004.8 ft squared.
They will need to paint 80 feet of the ferris wheel red
How did you figure this out?
I got 20, 069gal 2
I got this using the formula→ c=pi r 2.
Pi=3.14 r=80
C=3.14 (80)(80)
C=3.14 (6, 400)
C=20, 069gal 2
Be careful not to mix up the formula for circumference with the formula for area.
the total of red paint they will be painting is c=( pi )d so I do 3.14 multiplied by 160 and the answer is 502.4
I think that you would have to do C=Pi*2*R. (Pi = 3.14, R = 80)
So your answer would be: 502.4 gallons total because 80 multiplied by 2 is 160. 160 multiplied by 3.14 is 502.4. So that is how much gallons of red paint the maintenance crew will need to paint the Ferris Wheel, that’s a lot of paint. 🙂
they will need 502.4 feet first I divided 160 by 2 got 80 multiplied that 3.14 then multiplied that answer by 2 and got 502.4
Rachel M.
The answer would be a total of 502.4 feet.
I got this answer by using the formula for circumference: C=pi(diameter).
Well, They would need to buy 1000.4 ft. of paint because you find the circumference then double it. Thanks. Noah C.
I did C=3.14(160)=50,240.Then I did 50,240(2) because the problem said both the outside rails and I got 100,480ft.I knew what formula to use because it said the outside needed to be painted and the circumference is the outside of the circle.
Don’t forget your decimal places!
They will be painting 1,004.8 feet of red paint. To find this answer, I multiplied 160 by 3.14 which equaled 50.24. I multiplied 50.24 by 2 to find the answer, which is 1,004.8 ft.
the answer is ;
pi*160*2
to find the circumference , c=pi x d and there’s 2 rails so you times it by two (:
Be careful which formula you use, and make sure you show a solution!
I would do 160 times 2 which equals 320 is the diameter.
Make sure you read the problems very carefully. 160ft. is the diameter.
They will need 502.4 feet of red paint. I know the diameter so I did C=3.14*160.
502.40 ft. to be painted
first i used the formula a=pi r2 and divided 160ft by 2 then got 80. i multiplied 80 by 3.14 and the solution i got was 251.2 feet.
Does it seem reasonable that the circumference would be less than the diameter?
I did 160÷2=80 then did 80×3.14=25.4777 so the answer is 25.4777
Does this answer seem reasonable?
502.40 ft to be painted I think
They’ll need 502.4 feet of paint. The diameter is 160ft so I did the formula C=Pi (160)
C=3.14 (160)
C=502.4
they will be painting 503 feet aprox. I got it by C=pi*d
502.40 needs to be painted
first I used C=pid to find 502.40×2=1004.80
They need 502.4 ft. of paint, The diameter is 160ft so the formula i used is C=(160)
C=3.14 (160)
C=502.4
502.4 ? i kinda messed up on my work
c=d*pi*2=160*pi*2 =160*3.14*2* 160*3.14=502 =502*2 times 2502*2=1004 do =1004ft
the answer is 1004.8 because if you use the cercumfrence 160 and multiply it by the diameter 2 then once more to pi you get 1004.8
they would need 1004.8 ft of red paint I found this by using the formula c=pi times d which ended up being 502.4 but multiply that times 2 because they have to paint both of the 2 rails.
the circumference is 502 ft I got this using the formula a=pi D
You will need 1004.80 ft of red paint
