Maths Maggie
October17
Dear Maths Maggie,
I am very confused about time. My teacher says playtime is at a quarter past 10 and lunch is at half past 12. She also said that our Maths test will take three quarters of an hour. I don’t see any fractions on the clock so what on earth is she talking about?!? Can you please explain so I can understand this funny time my teacher keeps talking about?
Kind regards,
Time to Study
three quarters of a hour is 45 mins because each number equals 5 mins.
dear math maggie if you think about it it is easy you see 6 and 6 is 12
3 and 3 is 6 so 3 must bea quarter of 12 you see from your to frends naomi and shyann
so quarter past in time is 15 mins.
half past is 30mins.
quarter to is 15 mins to the time
dear time to study
she is actually talking about minutes. quarter past is fifteen minutes past. quarter to is fifteen minutes to the next hour and half past is thirty minutes past . the fractions are just how far the minute arrow is past the hour or before
3 quarters of an hour is 45 mins. because 1 quarters is 15 mins 2 quarters is 30 mins and 3 quarters is 45 mins. on the clock 1 quarter is 15 mins
45mits
if a quarter of in hour is 15 min and 30 min is half an hour then 45 min must be three quarters of in hour.
Dear Time to Study
If you know how much a quater is you can add the 3 quaters together and find out the answer which is 45.
dear person
Time is so easy because the big hand is the minute and small hand hour and the one that ticks every second well is the the second.
Now you know what time is at school and home!!! OMG
From Danielle & Chase.
dear maths maggie
if you know how much a quater is (15)
3 quaters of an hour is 45 mins half past 12 is 30 past
and quater past 10 is 15 past
dear time to study
your teacher is talking about minutes not fractions. its just how far the minute arrows around the clock
dear person ther is 15 minnits in a hour so 15×3= or 15+15+15=
every three numbers is fifth teen minutes so nine numbers is four ty five from zac & justice
playtime is at 10:15 lunch is at 12:30 and the math test is 45 minutes long
So the teacher said play tim is at 10 15 lunch tim 12 30 45 mins is quarter to .
if i have playtime and it takes three quarters of the time it would be 45mins
you can do fractions on the clock but the clock has no fractions
on it and it has minutes to there are 60 minutes on the clock
