Our class is reading The Giver as our shared novel.  We have been discussing the type of community that Jonas comes from.  We have learned about all the different rules and ceremonies that govern this community. As a class we discussed what it means to have a ‘utopian’ society and then the students designed their won utopian community.  They were charged with the task of deciding what type of government they would have, who would create the rules for their land, what their surroundings would look and feel like, and how their citizens would thrive.  Room 2 has come up with some wonderfully interesting utopias.  Enjoy. 🙂
